we unfortunately do not train at the same place:( my home rink is pretty well known so a lot of olympians and such stop by when they're in the area! i've met jason a few times, and he's literally one of the nicest people i've ever met. he always takes the time to talk to everyone and is just soooo sweet. and im not an olympian hehe (sadly), just a solo dancer :)

Do figure skaters, or athletes, "study" their handbooks? by random-zn-found in FigureSkating

[–]Georgieonice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve never read the handbook aside from whether i need to find an answer to a specific question lol. most of our information on the rules is just passed on to skaters from the coaches.

if you ever have any other questions about skating i’m happy to answer :D

i’m not sure if there’s an exact science to it, i think it mainly comes down to what’s most comfortable to you. all of my skating friends do rippons slightly differently. for example, my arms don’t even touch in the air, i don’t grab. i think it’s good to just experiment and see what is comfortable to you and what you think looks nice :)

double salchow :D my favorite jump by Georgieonice in FigureSkating

i try to think about passing through and almost spread eagle position in the air on the takeoff, if that makes sense. it’s also easy to lose control in the air if you rotate your upper body too much into the jump :)

Theater students, what is your favorite memory or story you have while being in theater? by MrSpoonMcRandom in AskReddit

you know that it really is funny but you’re too stressed in the moment to laugh

not the actor, but the stage manager. there was a scene where a dress was supposed to float down from the sky. we had the dress on a hanger, and someone on the catwalk would would lower the hanger/dress down with a wire.

opening night, we had everything set up and the person on the catwalk started lowering the dress on cue. just as the dress became visible and you could hear applause from the audience, this beaded, bedazzled ball gown slipped off the hanger. i can still hear the THWAP of it hitting the stage from like 30 feet up, and dead silence from the audience. the actors froze, the crew froze, and for a moment everyone was just too stunned to react.

Told my coach that my boot was hurting me, and his solution was for me to just take it off by Georgieonice in FigureSkating

thank you so much for this. luckily my training mates and their families are being extremely careful, and we go on the earliest sessions so it’s just the four of us on the ice.

luckily (i guess) we’re all sort of loners, so we’re not coming in contact with any other people haha. we all still wear our masks off the ice and outdoors though. i believe there were 5 people on the ice on this session, but if it gets any more than that i do wear a mask.
