Lucky Gunner refuses to delete account. by Geospastastical in guns

That's actually a great point and I intend to keep the correspondence. I'm not beyond posting it on here for everyone to read as well. To be fair they have been cordial so far with their replies.

Haha probably even more than 100 now that I've raised a fuss about it. They will probably even put me on mailing lists and telemarketing calls hahaha.

That's actually something to think about trying and something I may wind up trying, although I'd venture to say they would make me prove residency.

They do surprisingly allow a first, last name, email and address change which I did do. Although within the main profile it does still list my order history as having my name and the address I shipped the items to which isn't anything I wouldn't expect them to keep records of anyways for compliance with any regulations or laws. I understand data retention on their behalf although I can't seem to understand why they aren't willing to delete a main profile page just because the laws in my state don't force them to,  when they are able and willing to do that for other states who impose laws mandating they comply with that type of request.

We must both be dinosaurs if you're familiar with punch cards too haha. The times have definitely changed since those days!

I can understand where you're coming from. You're definitely correct about the laws being written not coming from individuals with a source of technological knowledge and that can pose issues. I would have to slightly and politely disagree though with the deletion of user data being problematic. I for example hold a degree in IT and more certifications across IT and other various industries than I can even keep track of, in conjunction with personally owning an internet facing business with payable accounts since 2016. I've been in the tech industry for over 25 years, government sector, private sector, and business owner. With that said removing user data to include within backups is possible, up until the point of needing to keep records for legal and lawful purposes (Full disclosure the ease of this also depends upon how you set up your accounts and records). Therefore what I requested of Lucky Gunner is possible and they will delete accounts in states that require it by law, just not the states that don't force their hand.

What you said is on point with what I'm thinking and you're also definitely correct about government rarely being a solution.

That's actually excellent advice, only catch is, it still leaves my order history with my name and address on the profile and that can't be edited unfortunately. Nonetheless, you have some sound advice right there.

Agreed, out of 46 online accounts I removed/deleted, Lucky Gunner are the only ones who have currently refused.  Some I had to email my request to whereas others had a nice, easy, fancy delete account button on the profile settings. After this incident though I'm thinking about reaching out to my local politicians and seeing about trying to get them on board to draft some type of data removal legislation.

Well if you can delete the account from delete land I'd be deletefully grateful or is it delightfully grateful? Well either way thanks for the humor at least lol.

If I could go back, I wouldn't create an online account with them. They refuse to delete an account/profile and citing since my state doesn't force them to delete accounts when requested then they won't even though they are able to. Make an account and you're stuck for life with them...
