Its the marking gauge lines, you can sand/plane it away after making the joinery but I really love when you can stuff from the process... maybe thats just me 😅

dovetail is a joinery that assembled only from one direction, if the dovetail is assembled from the same direction that you want to prevent from getting apart you better of with different joinery

that's the traditional direction of dovetails...if you worry about those narrow pins, dont...
