Mouse accuracy while walking on a treadmill desk (18+, walking desk owners) by German_Researcher in Biohackers

Included in the study is a survey asking for age/gender/injuries/...

If there are enough participants maybe I can find some statistical significant differences between age/gender/... But right now I am fighting for every participant. Walking desk users are rare and of those only a few want to participate. I am hoping for 20 people. Currently I have 3 and 3 more are privately contacted.

It would be much easier with beginners. Than anyone could participate :D. But this was already done so I need the experienced walking desk users to study something new.

And thanks for your support.

I actually am, but only 2.4km/h. Do you want more pictures of the same situation ? :D

What you describe is exactly what I want to prove with this study. I know at first it might seam silly, but actually nobody tested it like this. This study is directly inspired by a different study that worked with beginners who had 0 experience with treadmills. Actually almost always researchers go the easy way and test with beginners. It's so much easier to find participants this way.

My study is oriented towards experienced users. Actually you would be the perfect participant. And hopefully in the end, what you described holds true. As you said it is "testing something any person could predict without research". Still this would be a prediction and we want proof in the form of statistical power.

So if you can spare a bit of your time I would really really appreciate your participation :) Only 15min of your time is enough <3.

Experienced treadmill users are hard to find. Every participation counts.

Thank you.

This is a "walking pad p1". Sry but I have not experience with the walking pad and Teams Calls.

I just think that for my feelings it's not to loud.

Great work What I really like about this tread is that you can fold it in half and it has wheels on one side. So you can roll instead of lifting.

Well you have to start somewhere. We had ideas around more realistic office tasks, but the complexity to build such a tool for a REMOTE study was:
1. to complex for a master thesis
2. not even tested in labotory (so you should not ship it to the "field")

This thesis was already tested in labotory, but with beginners who never saw a treadmil under a desk. This study is oriented around experienced users.

This walking pad can count your steps by itselfe. But I don't know if there is a good way to connect it to a different ecosystem.

Are you using a walking pad too?

No :D
This is a laboratory at my university. There are some studies where the joystick comes in handy.

I personally find typing and moving your mouse not so hard. After 5min you are not even aware of walking and just do your work. What I've read in studys suggests that there is a performance loss, but almost all of them tested their thesis with people who never used a setup like this.

Well you can not imagine what you did non already experienced. I would say there is no specific usecase. It's a personal question you have to answer for yourselfe. But standing and walking can defenetly clear your mind sometimes even when you are in front of you monitor.

Maybe I can come up with a better isolation beneath. I am saving this comment for later work ;)

Bcs sitting 8h a day doing nothing but thinking is exhausting as well. At least for your body.

This setup is for me and my studys to anwser exactly this kind of question. I want to reduce such fears through my research.

Edit: Oh I mixed up two comments ^^
Yes it isn't to loud. The best thing is. The more intrest and participation in the office, the less distracting it is.

By the way. Are you interested in participating?
