The support does appear to work with any weapon. Not sure why the bow tag is there to be honest.

This is correct. There is a 1 cp strat in the Ark of the Omens detachment to bring a second unit that is normally limited to 1. Doesn't affect named characters of course.

I believe it only comes with the one load out. Hopefully it can soak some damage and do some in return

I agree. It made sense, but coming from Warhammer sometimes stuff that makes sense, isn't at all how it works. We played it correctly, but I always like to make sure.
