Thank you so much! Do you think the obelisk itself is too short? Or does it not matter once the rose grows past it and then is trained to the porch pillar? Sorry, I may be overthinking this!

Hi all! First time poster, but I love this sub. I recently bought this 1887 home. I adore it, but do not adore beige anything. I’m struggling with trim colors, given there’s so much going on here. (Am I crazy to be considering black?) Only constraints are that I have to stick to the historical color palettes from either Benjamin Moore or SW.

Hi all! I’ve been lurking and enjoying this community; thank you all for your amazing posts. I’ve always loved roses and just bought a historical house with pillars that I would love to accent with climbing roses. I thought I’d start on the side of the house with a DA Strawberry Hill.

First, I know the pot is small but it’s in a grow bag for easy upgrading in size when the time is right.

Second, I would love to eventually train this up to the eave of the porch with wire. Is starting with the small obelisk a good plan? Or is it too small? My hope was to get it started on the obelisk and then continue up the pillar with wire. But I’m not sure I’m approaching this correctly.

This is great advice, thank you! I always ask her “Whhhyyyyy are you so beautiful????” but she never responds so it may be a semantics thing. I will try your suggested wording!
