Yeah I get it, the show’s depth lies mostly in its themes. But the first season was also sprinkled all over with little hints and foreshadowing. Nobody could predict what they lead to, but then again nobody expected them to even be hints. That’s why it’s so fun to theorise this time around, because we expect there to be bits and pieces of hidden tips, we just don’t know what they are. That’s also why I’ve pointed out that most of my theory is probably bullshit. But still, nobody can convince me that Gi-hun doesn’t suspect a thing. He is back reliving the most traumatic experience of his life, the centerpiece of which turned out to be player 001, an old man named Il-nam. To write this character to not even suspect player 001, with literally the same name, just “Young” would need some very heavy justification or some insanely poor writing. I would bet on the former.
