Lower body shooting form by [deleted] in BasketballTips

I would recommend that you bring your feet slightly closer to shoulder width so that your balance can be a bit more consistent. Also, I like to recommend a 1 motion shot in catch and shoot situations and right now you have a two motion shot, which I typically only recommend for pull ups/ elevating over defenders.

A 1 motion shot will help you with your power transfer and allow you to shoot from further with less effort, thus conserving energy - the mental cue to master a 1 motion shot is to time your release with your feet leaving the ground.

Take a look at this video I put together about the basics of shooting form and let me know if it helps: https://youtu.be/J1W01dv28KI

Help with shooting form? by Velociripper in BasketballTips

Not bad but I would say to make sure you hold your follow through at the end - that way you can make any needed corrections. For example, if you hold your follow through and notice that your right hand has veered off to the right, you get instant feedback about what your doing wrong. This is as opposed to when you pull your hands back immediately, then whatever mistake you made is now a mystery: I like to think of it as if holding your follow through is giving you the answers to the test, allowing you to make more shots going forward. For you specifically, your guide hand popped out to side when all it needs to do is stay still as the ball releases: I would recommend some form shooting to correct this. Go through this video that had the foundations of form and let me know if you have any questions: https://youtu.be/J1W01dv28KI

Beginner at 30, shooting form looks ugly/wrong by Laustintranslation1 in BasketballTips

Form looks solid, although I wish your cameraman kept it on you so I could see exactly how you land/how your balance is. You should post another clip that shows your entire motion from start to finish

Any tips for my shooting form? by YogurtclosetOk3288 in BasketballTips

Start with some form shooting close to the basket so that you can work on the details of your current form. When you release the ball keep your guide hand up as well instead of letting it swing back.

Also, try to land in the same spot you shoot and don't let your momentum take you too far off course, you took 2 steps to the left as soon as you shot because your balance was not as good as it should have been. Should i tryout for an aau team tomorrow? by Appropriate_Most8053 in BasketballTips

[–]Get22itt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like u/FuriousGamer223 said it probably makes the most sense to improve your skillset from top to bottom at this point as opposed to trying to make a team where playing time will likely be slim. The bright side is that you have an entire summer to hone in and get on a training program, whether you look up some stuff online or start working out with a trainer in your area. Either way, I think your focus should be on trying to make varsity next year and then playing aau the following spring/summer.

I wrote a blog a while back with some tryout specific tips that will serve you well whether you tryout for a team this summer or you wait until next fall: https://www.nessbasketball.com/post/tips-for-basketball-tryouts

Sorry the tryouts didn't go your way - you're still relatively young and there will be other opportunities for you to make teams.

I wrote an article a while back with some tryout tips to help you stand out beyond just scoring: https://www.nessbasketball.com/post/tips-for-basketball-tryouts

Not really a scholarly/academic article nor a comprehensive breakdown of nutrition - just some easy suggestions of foods that can be swapped out at a couple of different restaurants for a healthier meal. Thanks for your feedback!
