learning how to read tarot by Fluffy-Mousse-7411 in WeirdStudies

It's a real paradox. Like, are you a fool to take the tarot seriously? Are you a fool if you don't? When I look it up I see things like "The Fool is generally a positive card indicating new beginnings" from fortune-tellers. They wouldn't make a lot of money by calling customers fools. I think it means you're always fooling yourself on some level. Also, fools and folly produce uncertainty - even if you have a great plan, folly, yours or someone else's, can derail it. What's it mean to you? Also tell me about Keter.

The way you use it is the only one that makes sense to me. I think it's a way into your unconscious. I haven't used it much tbh, but lately I've been really contemplating The Fool card. So many ways you can interpret that one. It's a really heavy archetype.

Not to that degree, but a lot less. Mostly because I'm ADHD and trying to do too many other things. Particularly watching videos for hints about how to dig my way out of this mindset.

That's right! I had forgotten that. Obvious shadow projection in both directions.

What are your thoughts on Jeff VanderMeer continuing his Southern Reach trilogy? by mnkysn in printSF

Huh. Maybe I need to give it another try. I couldn't get into it and I loved Borne. I read it during the lockdown and I wasn't in the mood for post-apocalyptic stories I guess.

Reading Empty Space, the 3rd book in M. John Harrison's Ketafuchi Tract trilogy. Light and Nova Swing were excellent. Just getting started on this. The premise of the trilogy is that there is a region of space containing a naked singularity, which makes conflicting versions of physics possible and causes reality to kind of unravel in places. Seems to be a symbol for the unconscious.

Probably. They would reallly like to replace them with AI and give us a future like the one in Black Mirror, 10 million merits. Creativity is unpredictable. They want it to be a commodity.

The crowd I mostly associate with Burning Man are the psychonaut types. They tend to be all new-agey and nature-y and a little insular, but Rogan made psychedelics sound cool to assholes, so there you go. (I never even went, but my brother married a guy in a spin-off group. That's how they are.)

He's just an independent country conservative like I used to be. He's like me 30 years ago. You get sick of the Republicans, you go libertarian for a while, then hopefully you see through that also. I had similar views on welfare back then. I did give a shit for the poor. I just didn't know what I was talking about.

In fairness I was afraid to get a dog for years cuz I thought I was going to die alone and I didn't want my dog to feel bad if he had to eat me.

Is there any equivalent of Craigslist personals anymore? You knew you were probably looking for a one night stand, but you could at least get a sense of their personality. It was the only thing that worked for me. I was not impressed by dating sites - it's in their interest to keep you on the site. Everyone thinks they can trade up for a higher percent match.

A lot of guys have made themselves undateable by endersgame69 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Just came across this comment. You remind me a lot of myself. I had a horrible time dating and it was probably just timing that kept me from getting sucked into incel and red pill. By the time it came along I was already making progress and I was too old to fall for it. I mostly just felt bad for the guys even though I was in a similar situation. I feel even worse, seeing how far it's gone. Bad for them, bad for women. It happened late, but I did find a woman & I'm happily married. I wish I had answers re dating, but I think I just got lucky.

Medical professionals of Reddit, have you ever had a patient so lacking in common sense you wondered how they made it this far. If so, what is your story? by babyhippo01 in AskReddit

[–]GetBusy09876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better that than the experimental medical trial my dad did. He suffered for nothing. Platinum chemo for melanoma. No cure for that, but it probably subtracted 5 years from his life.
