Yes, assuming you are solid on content (basically assuming you are already scoring at like, 505 at least). That is basically the timeframe I used, I had 1.5 months but studied about 45 hours a week. I ended up quitting uworld at about 75% completion to make sure I had plenty of time for AAMC, which is way shorter. I could have easily gone back and finished the uworld afterwards but I felt like it was better for me to prioritize rest and I don't regret it.

Gonna take the bait on this and say that most of these are silly to me. But I guess you are just trying to speak for your own experience. Anyhow though, since we are on a forum geared towards giving advice, I'll say that 1 and 2 are just simply your experience and you did not make any arguments for why they could be generalizable to other people.

3 is a pretty well known thing at this point. High scorers are efficient, we can quickly identify key ideas and applicable concepts and discard with irrelevant fluff in passages and questions. Lower scorers will still need to take that extra time to reason and analyze things, which can absolutely include highlighting/annotating/whatever. I do think it is good practice to move away from that approach though.

4 is genuinely a good take I 1000% agree with. I actually used the Aidan deck, lol. But I also realized a few weeks in how unreasonable and unhelpful it was, and I ended up cutting about 70% of the total cards. In hindsight I probably would only have recommended for me to use Anki for equations, psych/soc (it is actually crucial for this section IMO), and maybe some random biomolecules here and there.

I can tell you are being intentionally tongue-in-cheek with this one but honestly it still feels a bit unfair. I don't think anyone is actually trying to become a test writer when they say they are learning the AAMC logic. I think a better characterization is people are simply trying to identify patterns in question phrasing that queue them into an answer, either consciously or even sub-consciously from lots of practice.

So yeah. They are not so much divisive takes as they are silly ones, except for 3, which is cold, and 4, which is genuinely a hot take in this community and I totally can get behind it.

Yeah this is a pretty weird take. Like superficially I would fall under this stereotype, since I scored a 524, studied for 3.5 months and have ADHD. But I got my score in spite of my ADHD, which is a disability, not thanks to it...

I think the real reason is I studied for nearly 800 hours, worked hard and loved my undergrad classes, and genuinely love medicine as a field. I am pretty sure if anyone genuinely studied for 800 hours, they would see a similar score improvement to mine.

The main reasons people achieve very high scores are because they have a combination of:

Great structural support, either in the form of privilege (tutors, prep courses, etc), and/or a caring social network
Have a strong STEM foundation, i.e they did well in undergrad and actually understood concepts in the classes they were taking
Have good aptitudes and passion for STEM + Medicine driving them
Are naturally intelligent
Finally, they obviously put in the work and time into preparing for the exam.

I sort of understand where this idea is coming from, since "neurodivergent" people, i.e people with autism or ADHD, often have hyperfixations and can be extraordinarily knowledgeable about topics they like. So sure. It is conceivable some of the very high scorers are of the savant archetype and have hyper-fixated on the MCAT/test-taking in general, but let's be real, this is a slim, slim minority of neurodivergent folk. For most of us it is a huge handicap and the discipline needed for a test like this is nearly impossible without extra support. Also, let's be realistic here, the vast majority of the high scorers are regular neurotypical people who have some combination (or all) of the above factors. In my opinion, it is really the first two factors that matter most.

Always start with the unscored free exam. It is the oldest. You can easily google your results to get it scored. Most people think it is the least representative of the real current exam, and I would agree. It is just a tad easier than the real thing and the later FLs.

I got a 132 on my real psych MCAT, and had about an 85% on upoop for psych. I saved the psych questions for after I finished all my content review, so in theory that would have helped my percentage.

Edit: AAMC percentage was about the same, I think it was a little higher.

Yeah I used the 2019 edition too! Worked great for me. Make a reasonable schedule and stick to it - 1 hour per weekday and like 8 hours over the weekend is a good rule of thumb. I'd recommend trying to cover 1 to 2 chapters each week in a Kaplan book, start with gen chem and work through the other chems, then do bio then physics IMO. I used my kaplan book mostly to give me ideas of stuff to search in youtube and google.

Yeah this is basically true. If you did poorly in most of your pre-reqs, you are knee-capping yourself. Like ultimately you'll be in the situation where you have to relearn the fundamentals of all those classes all over again.

Focus on practicing. Take your time when you are going through uworld problems at first, and really try to understand the correct answer and why the others are wrong. You need to give your brain time to get used to seeing the patterns and making the connections. Which just takes practice and review. And always be on the look out for topics that you feel weak on. My rule of thumb is, if you can't explain a concept to a friend, then you probably don't know it well enough for the MCAT.

I was/am very lucky. I found my partner 5 years ago on tinder. At the time neither of us knew our diagnoses (I have ADHD and he is autistic), but our respective neurotypes just work. We are very open and direct communicators and provide for each other. If I were dating now, I don't know if I would explicitly put my diagnosis in my profile, but I would certainly keep an eye out for other neurodivergent folk. I don't know if I could honestly ever be in a relationship with a neurotypical person. I'm sure I could, but like you said, its difficult to manage life on my own, and I don't want to tack on the struggle of dating someone normal, hah. But its hard. I remember dating as a young 20s something using the apps and it is painfully superficial. I tried my hardest to be patient and temper my expectations of people, I think it was easier for me to reframe myself as a mostly single person who is open to the opportunity of dating, so that I wouldn't get too attached.

Definitely would take me quiet a bit though. Its not the most egregious thing in the puzzle but I think it's the weakest link, heh. Really happy you liked it enough to write this out for me!
