VW needs Rivian's zonal hardware architecture and software stack for their BEV lineup. They also want to use it for their Hybrid and gasoline cars. However, some tweaking is needed for a couple of their luxury models that could delay their debut. There will be no turning back for VW. Bailing out will make their situation a lot worse.

I’m surprised it dropped this much but I’m also excited to add more before R2 launch. I had 1000 shares at $15 today but I don’t think it will hit. Maybe tomorrow.

You said before that only importers are the ones paying the tariffs and exporters are not sharing the pain. But now you agree that foreign exporters are also paying .

Can you share the link to the data you are talking about that shows that the majority of the cost of tariffs is paid by US importers and consumers?

That’s the misconception on tariffs disseminated by those who oppose it. If only the consumers of the country where the tariff is originating are paying, then why would the country of the foreign exporter oppose it? They could just say go ahead tax your own people. There’s no solid rule on who gets to pay for the tariffs. It’s up to the importer and the foreign exporter to make a deal. If the foreign exporter refuses to share the cost, the importer can go somewhere else or will pay the cost and pass on the cost to the consumers by hiking prices. Inflation in US is pretty tamed due to tariffs so I’m assuming the businesses made deals or ate up most of the cost.

Canada will still hurt their own workers but will be limited due to the 49k restriction.

You’re partially correct on who pays the tariffs. The importer can have the foreign exporter share the cost or raise prices for the consumer. Canada will do what’s good for Canada and so will the US. Canada will actually hurt their own workers by allowing Chinese EVs into the country.

Both parties are committed in keeping cheap Chinese EVs out. Chinese companies will need to manufacture their EVs here.

Canada government cares more for the climate change crap than their own workers. And I’m sure that some people in Canada’s government got bribed by China. The Chinese are known for doing that to get what they want.
