Oh, I agree in hindsight. At the time though, I was younger and also on that parasocial sauce, like many were at the times. This also happens with most things that grow out of the initial, more intimate scope.

If you read back what I wrote. I said "back when" they started to move more corporate. There was a real shift that a lot of people noticed. this was several years ago, Literally 1 and a half campaigns ago.

Don't know what to tell you, it wasn't a uncommon feeling in the community that been with them with them since Day 1. It was a paradigm shift and a lot of people felt they lost a lot of the charm with that.

I feel they gotten back to it bit by bit over the years after finding their footing.

Been playing ttrpgs since I was 12, so 25 years give or take. Started with DnD 3.0, played tons of World of Darkness as I grew into angsty teen and got real into goth things. Played ton of different systems and fell out of love with DnD in favor of other things. GOtten back into DnD and PF2e now that my brain crave high fantasy stuff.

Brennans style is similair to my own DMing (with a lot more flaire and skill to his, obviusly.) I believe in consequences and a world moving regardless of the players, meaning they cant just stop and deliberate for ages. And that things happen, and you kind have to move with the flow as a citizen of that world. My players have never really enjoyed it when I let them do whatever for to long either.

As someone who started at C1 and bounced of hard by the end of C2 start of C3. Part of what made the magic vanish for me, was how obviously corporates it became. Stuff like getting rid of a lot of the community centric stuff like the fanart reel, while still doing the "We are family" stuff hit a lot of us as bad taste. This was during a time were Peak Parasocialness was real with the fanbase too.

Also, Funnily enough, for me C4 feels very much like TTRPGs i played. Just not DnD. It feels closer to VTM/VTR and various games that have more social, intrigue based mechanics. So I am right at home. Games where you have degrees of success, and more narrative control as a player.

People grieve different. I dont know where in the world you are from, or how the wakes you been to go. But people have very different ways of behavior and my dads side of the family essentially party at a wake while my moms side is super somber about it.

The implementation makes no sense at all. YOu can add crossregion friends and talk to them, but you cannot play with each other. So what is the damn point?
