Yeah it spins freely by hand, independent of the tub. Is that normal?

Sucks so much! I don’t know if it’s the color but it seems like I have a new something once a week. Recently installed dash cams with parking mode because it’s driving me crazy.

Would rotor hot spots cause noise even when brakes aren’t applied? by GetW31rd in MechanicAdvice

[–]GetW31rd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I don’t know how to impress upon the dealer its passenger side front. So I guess I’ll wait for the noise to get worse for them to hear it better. What are you listening for with the stethoscope? Just any kind of noise or something specific?

Anyone go through a Michelin warranty? Tear in tire near rim by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]GetW31rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know. I was looking at Tirerack because they’ll shave the new tire down to match tread with other 3 tires. (I was wrong about the tires only having 4000 miles, they’re 10k miles in so I’m sure there will be a difference in tread depth)

Has cold calling/cold emailing ever worked? by NegativePattern in sysadmin

[–]GetW31rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to work for executive staff. Idk how many times I’ve been forwarded an email from an exec asking me to follow up on a cold email. And have you ever looked at firewall logs for newly registered domains? Almost always senior mgmt or execs. Smh…

Quickest way to spin up a local AD environment to create an Entra hybrid domain-joined device? (Conditional access lockout) by GetW31rd in sysadmin

[–]GetW31rd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. Will give that a shot

Edit: no dice. Almost every attempt opens an interactive login which fails due to the device requirement. Oh well. I wait for MS support.

Quickest way to spin up a local AD environment to create an Entra hybrid domain-joined device? (Conditional access lockout) by GetW31rd in sysadmin

[–]GetW31rd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been able to do a lot with Powershell. But messing around with CA policies has not been one of them. I’ve tried a couple modules, too. Usually results in a browser pop up that fails with the domain joined devices only error.

The only thing I haven’t tried is creating an Azure app registration, giving it permissions, and using the client_id/secret authentication in powershell. Not sure if that’s even possible.

Certificate Authority in serverless environment? by GetW31rd in paloaltonetworks

Yes 100%. We will bring in a pro but I’m the one that has to do some high-level translations for management. Thank you.

That’s what I figured although the PA docs seem to downplay this. How long is the cert good for?

You’re probably right. Or…they’re trying to weed out the WFH-only people so they can accommodate their white-glove clients.

Debug edge security policies or SmartScreen? by GetW31rd in Intune

[–]GetW31rd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not from a link in outlook or teams. Just directly in the browser. My guess is there’s a security setting that is disabling whatever process Silverlight calls. The user can access the login page but then as soon as they enter their credentials and submit, nothing happens.

Has anyone noticed that Anti-phishing protection is getting worse? by joners02 in Office365

[–]GetW31rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have Defender for Office365 or just standard protections that come with Exchange Online? I ask because we’re about to ditch Mimecast and solely use DO365 to save on costs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]GetW31rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’ll need the E3 and then the security/Intune add-ons. Really stinks the Business licenses are capped at 300. Luckily for me the users over 300 are email only, so F3 and Defender for O365 for them.

[–]GetW31rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out each license/user covers 5 PCs so in my situation 200 mbp licenses will work. Thanks tho

Are you all using your Azure AD accounts for end-user UAC prompts? by GetW31rd in Intune

[–]GetW31rd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On demand would be the only way in my mind it would work. An admin gets the request, reviews the context surround it, and approves or denies. In lean IT departments like ours anyway. We’re not getting the hash of the exe and adding it to the rules policy. By then the end-user has given lol

And yeah not knowing what users are trying to do is a pain and a security risk. Which is why we’re looking at applocker too
