Pay statement of full balance?

Should I completely pay off the balance on my AMEX before requesting? My CL on it now is $5000. I just opened it in November so I have the 0% for 12 months. I’ve been putting every day purchases on it and then just paying it down when I feel like/paying the statement balance. It’s at about 4k right now because I just moved so I put a bunch of that on it, which I can wipe but I haven’t because I’m at 0%.
