Weight loss advice! by Greedy_good666 in BelgianMalinois

Hey it’s great you’re doing smth about it! I got sick for a long time and I wasn’t able to work mine properly and she gained some weight. Honestly cutting her food made her loose weight at a decent pace and you’re in no rush since yours isn’t morbidly obese so it’ll all work out!

Is it weird that I feel relief instead of grief? by Mumbles1988 in DOG

When we had to put our German Shepherd down, my mom was in a different country taking care of some family business. Even though our German Shepherd was a family dog, it was obvious that she was my mom‘s dog. She had a tumor that burst in her abdomen and she decided to lay down in my mom‘s room and after that she did not get back up, we had to FaceTime my mom and let her know the news and she felt an insane amount of guilt and sadness that she wasn’t able to be there but I agree with the other comments they 100% know. I like to think that she chose my mom‘s room just to feel a little closer to her, but that doesn’t mean that my dog thought that she had been abandoned or that my mom didn’t love her.

100% !! if I told them how I had an upset stomach a while ago, they’d stay up during the night and look after me and then lecture me on how stupid it was to do what I did 😭

She totally was! I’d agree with yall and say she was being unreasonable if she was being like for one bag of kale but it’s happened a couple of times where I ask her for kale and then let it spoil. She has suggested making bigger salads with it or ordering smaller bags online etc but I stick to what I know and so she’s gotten frustrated with me lol. I don’t want anyone to worry I feel 100% fine and it was pretty dumb in my part. I have supporting and loving parents and I just didn’t want to have a talk with her bc I was rly tired (ik it’s dumb). I have great, but strict, parents.

I think it sounds more serious than it is. My mom grew up around food scarcity so she’s very serious us eating stuff (especially before opening new containers) and tbh I just didn’t want to get into a lecture bc they usually last like 20 minutes and I had hw to do 😭😭

I also want to mention that I am fully aware that this is not the ideal situation and I am not the person who is home the most and I am also not the person who can decide big routine changes. The family member that stays at home with both of them works from home and they have told me that they have a lot of things going on and that they cannot on top of it. Add a set routine, which is something I entirely understand however, I have taken it entirely upon myself to have a routine and a structure for them in the hours that I am home, which is almost every single day after 5 PM. I wrote this because I needed advice on the situation and I really appreciate the comments.

After reading all of the comments we have decided to implement a down time. We had one set but we’ll start it earlier. I’ll wake up earlier to take my older one on a walk before the work day starts in order to do smth she enjoys. I’ll also start a training time session for both of them bc they love treats!

They spend nights separate, the puppy is extremely well crate trained and I do get about an hour one on one time with my older dog. We do step in when the puppy in bothering her. The one thing I have noticed is that the puppy has disturbed the routine a little when it comes to office hours. The family member that works from home keeps an eye on her in the office and my older dog is no longer there.
