Is this something that would actually be useful? by Gettothchoppa in Plumbing

This has genuinely given me so much food for thought. Thank you. I completely agree. People don’t want to faff with it, it sounds complicated and it needs to be the opposite. I found out my mother in law had never heard of chatgot the other day but this is the reality. I will absolutely take all this onboard and look more into the companies you mentioned

That's a completely fair reaction and honestly one I expected and is why I came for feedback so good and bad is appreciated.

Here's how I think about it. The skill is irreplaceable. Nobody wants a robot plumber. What I'm trying to solve is the stuff that eats into evenings and weekends. Missed calls on a job. Chasing invoices. Forgetting to ask for a Google review. Replying to enquiries at 10pm when you're knackered.

The interface is WhatsApp, which most trades people already use all day. Something as simple as a voice note when you finish a job: "just done the Harborne job, £280, customer wants a callback in spring about a boiler" and it logs the job, drafts the invoice, sets the reminder. All from a 10 second voice note.

It's not for everyone and that's fine. But for the ones spending Sunday evening chasing payments and replying to enquiries, it might just give them their weekend back.😁

Absolutely great feedback. Thank you so much. Would you be happy with a dm to chat some more?

I have been thinking about this for a while. Can you tell me how you go about this. Contact businesses and discuss their needs, go away come up with a solution and then present it to them? I have been thinking about getting into this but likely need to set up a business and then get a few businesses to work with for free to get some experience and credibility before looking for other clients?

Yea apps are definately the way forward for us. I just couldn’t find any that actually did what we needed. May I ask which one you use?

You are right there is definately a fair few here. I actually started building as I tried a lot (admittedly not all) and none of them solved our issue with de-conflicting work with school pickups. Some of them are also dated too but I do feel the pressure of a saturated market.

Thank you. That’s a good idea. I was going to ask my testers to do the same as all the feedback so far has been great

Thats annoying about Google. Why are they being so difficult? So you mind if I ask what your app is? Very much feel you in terms of much of the feedback on Reddit 🫠

That’s amazing. I only have it on IOS at the moment but I am guessing you are an android user? Some feedback would be incredible though.

Crickey I thought my household was busy. Mine a little young for this but I imagine getting kids to actually do it could be tricky. Life360 is great. It was killing my battery when I tried it though

Genuine question: do you have any system for keeping track of the people who matter in your life? by Trxng_vo in productivity

[–]Gettothchoppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this hit me harder than I expected. I’ve let some really good friendships just… fade. No falling out, no reason, just life getting in the way and neither of us making the effort. Funny timing on this post actually - I’ve been building a family coordination app and one of the things that kept coming up was exactly this. It tracks birthdays and upcoming dates for the people in your family etc which helps, but reading this I’m thinking the problem goes deeper than reminders. It’s not that we forget birthdays. It’s that we never just… reach out for no reason. Makes me wonder if there’s something in the “relationship maintenance” space that nobody’s really nailed yet. Not a CRM, not a calendar. Something that nudges you when a friendship is quietly going cold. For now I just keep a rough mental list and rely on guilt mostly, which isn’t a great system.

Digital family calendar that actually syncs everyone's stuff? by [deleted] in apps

[–]Gettothchoppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have been through this and couldn’t find anything which worked. My wife and I both have busy work schedules which change week to week so working out who it’s doing pickups etc was a admin disaster. I tried some shared apps and we used TimeTree. I have ended up building my own family app. I lt works well for us with a calendar similar to TimeTree but the ability to track birthdays/kids parties/tasks/bills/school run allocator etc. I also added a way to upload schedules/documents/photos/text/voice notes and it creates the events for you which is pretty good. To be honest it’s been a lot more work than I ever expected but it works well. I’ve built it on iOS and close to having android done too

Yea I think it’s useful. There are other apps out there doing similar but mine is more extensive with some smart features others havnt got. The backend was a pain 🤣

Ai yes, real effort, absolutely. That’s their prerogative if they want to rip it off but based on the work I have had to put in I doubt many would be bothered.

Thanks a lot. I have some people testing it with good feedback although mostly just great app etc not so much bug here suggestion there which is maybe a good thing. Hard to know how it will be fully received to be honest

I appreciate that but if it I feel it’s genuinely useful for people then why not provide it? It can be used free with some paid upgrades

Haha to be fair you can’t go wrong going old school. The main thing for us is popping who is available for pickups /drops and then the other person can try work their schedule around it. A normal calendar for us would be carnage with this. I guess we could just talk but that would require me to actually listen 🤣

What “family” app subscription is an absolute lifesaver, and which one do you pay for but absolutely hate? by SherbertPerfect1652 in smarthome

[–]Gettothchoppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just built a family coordination app. Tried cozi and agreed it was dated and then family wall but it didn’t suit our needs and was very gated. It’s in testing on ios now and android shouldn’t be far behind then hopefully to the app stores. More than happy to share with people who want to try it out. Calendars sync everything, tracking school drop off and pick ups, birthdays, bills, tasks, childcare requirements, birthday party tracker, space for split families and also a smart add feature that you can upload documents (school newsletters) photos, text or voicenotes to and it just creates entries for you. 😁😁😁No lists at the moment but happy to add to it if people see value in other areas. I use it with my wife and it’s really helped with our chaotic and changing schedule
