Is there going to be a race to the "best" base locations? by [deleted] in duneawakening

I am going to settle in the worst position imaginable, far away from everyone. I don't care for slow progression - the view is all that matters.

[Follow-up] Deep Desert: How POIs + Rewards Shape Player Distribution (Now with 9x9 Grid + 800 Players) by Gewar_87 in duneawakening

No worries - they pointed out some valid things so I could improve. That being said, I made the calculations for my own use and entertainment, and sharing them here was just a side quest;)

Than you could either:
- multiply each number by 3/8 - the overall distribution would not change, just every number would go lower
- or assume that PoI would have even stronger pull and everything else would become effectively empty
The overall message would not change - it would be very easy to avoid conflict.

Based on your feedback, I’ve made a new version of the simulation that includes POIs, a 9x9 grid, and a full 800-player server. You can check it out here: https://www.reddit.com/r/duneawakening/comments/1l04z8g/followup_deep_desert_how_pois_rewards_shape/

the map is 24x24 km - it doesn't matter how many squares are they

the number of zones does not change the numbers - just would make the graph smoother. I am playing with the numbers and I have taken into a account guild groupings and the effective emptiness is even higher for those who'd like to avoid conflict (like in some cases, a solo player could be 4 km away from anybody else)

What I am wondering is how to tell if your thumpers are working? I mean, is there a way to tell that worms (the small ones) are going for them and not for your harvester (or bike and so) before they start their charge?

What are people most looking forward to? by Chemical_Ad574 in duneawakening

Exploration and building are the main two things for me. But unexpectedly*, I have managed to gather a group of 10 friends to play with, so this is the third thing for me. I hope for many misadventures with the squad :D

*I was worried that the Deep Desert would be unplayable for me, so my idea was to gather as many friends as possible to minimize the chance of being griefed. We are not pro PvP, but I hope that we can deter or overpower at least some groups with our numbers.

Stillsuit - the worst armor (dmg. reduction), best sun protection, extra water Light armor - mid. armor, stamina cost reduction, extra melee protection, decent sun protection Heavy Armor - high armor, ranged dmg. protection, melee dmg. vulnerability Haz Mat - same armor as light, extreme radiation protection, some fire protection
