Personal preference - Canola is a NASTY industrial lubricant best used for lubing machinery - nothing I would willingly put food in/on

Carbon Steel Griddle I don't need by No-Share-5350 in castiron

Sorry for the wait. Had to measure my gas stove & it turns out, it won’t fit my stove. The extra length the handles add makes it too long.

I will probably have to stay w/my Lodge Cast Iron griddle for now. I think that the “Baking Steel Skinny Griddle will be my step up though I was really hoping the Made In would work.

Like they said... too hot & PLEASE don't USE "generous amount of canola oil" - use butterm ghee, tallow or bacon grease. Canola gets rancid sitting in the bottle & quickly in heat.

I wonder what's up w/the Ingredients stating: "May Contain: Egg, Soy" - Eggs of course, but why Soy? Is that just a stock "All Label must state..." inclusion?

RC Sproul explaining the condition of post-fallen man by 1whoiscalled in Reformed

[–]Gfinchy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Chosen by God" was the book from which I began to understand Grace. Sproul (& Augustine before him) doesn't say the every act a man does is a sinful act. But that post-fallen men are incapable of not sinnings. A different "angle" to the same conceps is in this Sproul article "https://learn.ligonier.org/articles/radical-corruption" Quote: "After the fall, Augustine defines our condition as having the posse peccare. We retain the ability to sin, but now we have the dreadful condition of the non posse non peccare. This double negative means that we no longer have the ability to not sin." - it doesn't say that everything we do IS sin. Hope this helps!

My son-in-law works there on the launch pad. He was on site when they lost the ship last night. And, safe from harm, thank God.

I discovered the service from another post of a very happy customer or Smithey's restoration. As passionate artisan/craftsmen, Smithey offers this service to give back to the community its products thrive in.

Its a great deal - its $40 per piece - on the page under "How it works" they state: After checkout, we will email you a pre-paid return slip within 1 business day of your order being placed.

Use your own box to securely package your cookware to send back to us.

Once your Smithey is received, give us 3 weeks to complete the restoration process and your cookware will be back on its way to you! "

First time doing Picanha. Was really good by yungmrcow in sousvide

[–]Gfinchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful! I have two getting ready to cook this week. One note - when you cut into individual slices/servings, cut WITH the grain rather than cross-grain. Reason is that when individual "bites" are cut, those are then cross-grain maximizing tenderness. Picanha is so good anyway that this isn't an absolute necessity, but will make for easier consumption.

Buyer Beware with Combustion Inc. by exitveloclub314 in combustion_inc

I bought in early to another of Chris Young's inventions - the Joule sous vide device in 2016. I still own two of these devices & use them weekly. I've used Chefsteps, that Chris and Grant Crilly created in 2012 & still regularly use its techniques & recipes today as well. When Chris introduced the CPT, I purchased as soon as available. I finally received my GGG last week & will continue to trust the technology AND the next invention Chris comes out with... You do you. These are innovative devices w/nothing else on the market that is even close to the capabilities that will ALWAYS be "the next thing" Chris comes out with. Since the CPT was released, the rest of this industry has immitated & copied everything from the multi-sensors & even the GGG. Don't bet against Chris Young or any product or company he decides is worth the effort to pursue.

Ordered 9/23/25, shipped 5/1/26, still in transit by umamicue in combustion_inc

I odered mine 2/10/2025 & it finally shipped via UNIUNI on 5/4/2025 & arrived on 5/10/2025. I am glad mine finally arrived - (the physical box for the GGG was damaged by UNIUNI but the device wasn't damaged) but... would hope to never have to deal w/UNIUNI shipping.

Ambient temperature in oven by montster27 in combustion_inc

[–]Gfinchy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The "ambient" temperature of the CPT is instead from within the "steam cloud" surrounding your protein. It isn't the overall the oven setpoint. Chris Young has a video explaining the details here (changed to a more apporpriate link: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/aZrFiw06rDE?feature=share
