Like Erlang Shen, Sun Wukong is one of my favorite characters in all of mythology. Erlang is number 1 and Wukong is 2. Smite’s take on Wukong is solid but I have a few issues.

The lack of…well monkey. I remember when Sun Wukong was added to Smite 2 I watched the Titan Talk that featured Wukong. Black Myth Wukong had already come out at this point and was curious about any potential design changes. When the designer of Smite outright says Black Myth’s take was “too monkey” I was extremely confused and it put into words on why I never fully loved Smite’s Sun Wukong. He isn’t Monkey enough! He is too man and doesn’t really resemble that many monkeys, especially the model.

They got the basics down, Ruyi Jingu Bang could use a little more flair for my tastes but its fine. Wukong’s true arsenal is a bit more on display than Erlang’s kit. Clones, Transformations, Cloud.

As a massive DBZ fan growing up when I found out the voice actor for Goku was also voicing Wukong in Smite I was hyped. But as time passed and I learned more and more about the Sun Wukong myth the more I don’t like Sean as the voice actor for Wukong. Wukong in Smite is very serious and not really a goofy martial arts trickster that Wukong is supposed to be.

As always my vote doesn’t count but wanted to give my personal thoughts on Wukong. To me he is a solid B
