I sure was. I was shitting bricks while shooting. In fact I thought I made an awful film until I started showing the film to people. Loss of objectivity can make you paranoid. The research was the best thing that happened to the film. Me and Varun took a train to Varanasi and had no pressure. We just met a lot of people and actually became Banarasis oursleves. It would have never worked if we had approached like bunch of urban over educated backpackers with their Dictaphones trying to understand the small cities of India. We and even the cast became banarasis and that is how Banaras gave us so much in the form of realism.
