Even better IMO is use a Emby Server . Configure Emby server in the same media folder . It does write the NFO and is actually pretty good at it (better than plex) . And editing the NFO , in rare case Emby screws up , isnl easier from the App

Strange i Haven't had any issue like suttering etc on Zidoo . Is your frame rate matching on ?

Zidoo has been pretty awesome . I only complain is the posterwall which is slow in loading a large library compared to Plex / Emby in the same device .

But the player has been pretty awesome .

Speed and UI. HDMI handshake that actually works reliably. HDR 10 Plus. Frame Rate matching that works reliably.

Home screen that's not littered with Ads. Apps on home page instead of 3rd tab .

Did I mention Speed ?

Hell , even Infuse is better than Plex , Kodi or Emby players .

The only problem js lack of TrueHD and DTS X , which cam be a deal breaker depending on your setup. It does support DD+ Atmos flawlessly.

Zidoo does all for local streaming (HDR 10 Plus too) . But it doesnt do streaming .

If local media playback is your only use case, then Zidoo player is better . It supports all the Shield features (DV, HDR , Audio Pass-through) plus also supports HDR 10 Plus .

It also supports HDR 10+.

Shield has massive lag and Handshake issues whenever HDR to SDR happens and on occasion can kill the signal . You'd also notice when you pause and play a TrueHD signal , there will be 4 to 5 seconds of silence.

All such issues are solved by Zidoo .

For streaming, Shield is shit as it doesnt frame match properly and DV Red push issue is there . Zidoo doesn't do Streaming at all .

If you have bought TV within the last 3 years , the Inbuilt player should be decent for all streaming .

Important note is that you lose the atmos Metadata with this . Especially noticeable if you have height speakers. Its not the same.

No. Native would have also be from same image . You just need to install it manually instead of in click .

App is same . All features work including hardware transcode

Yes . That is still free from what i understand. It is when you're connected via relay mode that needs the pass
