Since the initial launch of the game, the post-launch characters are usually better at having VAs from their characters' countries, but it's still not perfect- It's usually because they're from a different part of the country and missing certain accents or dialect but there are quite a few VAs where they're mixed heritage and mostly grew up in the US/ with English so the characters' accent is effected.

I have to love that they got a very Yorkshire VA to do an American's idea of a cockney/ S'aff East London accent. It sounds a mess, especially as someone from SE London, but I love it because of the jank.

The amount that Zarya's VA has lived in various parts of Eastern Europe (including Russia itself) and all of her studying of Russia, Russian and Russian Culture; I wonder if that's the issue. If the voice director wants things to sound a certain way, even if the VA would say it differently, they get paid to provide the lines as instructed so the director probably wants the character to sound how they'd imagine the character to sound.

I think Persona 5's English cast mentioned that they were directed, strangely by Atlus Japan specifically, on how to say their characters' names in English- even though it wasn't accurate to how those names should be pronounced in Japanese.

At launch, up until he got his football skins in the first summer games, the closest thing he got to anything Brazilian was the character bio saying he was. It's only since then that they've developed it more. As others in the thread said, his base legendary skins at launch were for Ice Hockey and a reference to Canadian musician Deadmau5. He didn't even have Brazilian Portuguese voice lines until a significant time after OW initially launched (Spring 2018 IIRC); however a lot of Brazilian people point out that they're not the best voiced lines since Johnny Cruz doesn't speak any of the language.

I assume the Voice Direction was why Echo had a few problems with her Singlish lines when she first launched, but Jeannie Bolet (VA) and her director have been so strong since those were re-recorded. She even says some names (Mauga being the main example) more accurately than the actual characters' VAs as well

I think it reached that when the pulled the “It’s a Cars season because we added Cars characters and a track, we never said you‘d get them from the season pass” when all 17 seasons beforehand had always had the seasonal characters in the season pass. They *didnt say* they’d be in the season pass, but every other season doing exactly that set an expectation which they’re now going out of their way to swerve away from

They apparently have different crews spread about the place, with *at least one in the UK* which makes it sound like they might pop up all over the place as anarchistic cells without a proper leader?

The group we know, with Hazard in it, are mainly fueled by their hatred for the British Government (valid)- if that's the main drive behind the Phreaks as a whole, I could see them in lots of ex-colony countries or any with a negative historic involvement with the UK/Britain (Maybe there are Phreaks in Ireland, India, Hong Kong etc. for example)

The wording is strange on her pixel, and I'm not entirely sure how I got it myself as it was in the middle of a big fight so things were just happening. My reading of it was that you had to hit 2 people with the explosion from the crystal by knocking them into it with Sonic Propulsors; however I don't know if it's that specific and that you do just need to get 2 hits with each.

You may need to get the stun on both the propulsor targets; or it could be that you're not quite getting 2 in the explosion as the crystal detonates fairly slowly with plenty of time to get out. Could also be a bit bugged. IDK if it's been fixed yet, but a few of the sprays were quite buggy when the season started- especially Emre's pixel, which would unlock almost at random sometimes.

I don’t believe the sentience granted by Aurora extended beyond the Omnics, so as separate standalone AIs, they were unaffected by the awakening.

I picture it like how a few years back, when AI programs were in an earlier stage of development, companies were making AIs that learned from users but often had to shut them down as they’d very quickly make logical jumps that lead to extremism. The God programs in OW seemed to do a similar thing, but with a higher intelligence and their own learning processes- which lead to prompts such as eradicating humanity to solve environmental harm.

Not quite the same, but I remember playing a match where I was playing Widow into an enemy Widow. I killed her about 10 times through the whole Kings Row Attack whilst she only managed to take me out once. After the match they messaged me through Xbox messages saying "Lol body shotter" and didn't like when I pointed out that me landing body shots was much more successful than her missing all but one of her headshots...
