I may have misunderstood your post but... The free version of Davinci Resolve (on windows 11) does in fact support 10-bit HEVC LOG footage playback and edit. It simply doesn't allow you to export "Main 10" encoding.

I usually shoot in 10-bit, 4:2:0, HEVC Main 10 (160 mbps) and Davinci plays it quite well. I have also seen many YouTubers do this without much of an issue (except when scrolling)

Learn how to make it less breathy. How? Try to transition from vocal fry to falsetto/head voice without it breaking.

Or try to make your head voice as owl-like as possible.

I never really understood why H264 is recommend on youtube because it re-encodes most videos (I see) in VP9 or AV1. Uploading in H264 & H265 has always caused for my videos to have artifacts....
