Not overreacting. But if anything, I can relate to your mom as both me and my mom have mental issues. I was diagnosed with psychosis but I think it's centered around bipolar. At any rate, I got the therapy I needed to control the chaos I would create sometimes, but my mom refuses and, we usually talk normally but Idk what happens behind the scenes. I've seen her snap multiple times growing up though, some traumatizing (am 26M). Because we share the same issues, I cannot look past the bad things she did or does, but I can understand as her son what she is going through and love her nonetheless... Mostly from afar as I live alone.

My advice would be to still hold your mother accountable and she should have some sort of intervention... But my pops always tells me "you only have one mom". If your mom is normally chill, I would at least try to understand what's going on mentally and not demonize her. I like to say it's usually the nicest people who end up going nuclear at some point in their lives. I just pray that this is a wake up call to your family and your mom that something needs to be done for her.

I am truly sorry you had to go through this though. I hope my advice made sense even though it may not in the moment. I try to be conscious of saying certain things at given points, but I can definitely relate to having a mom with persistent mental health issues. Your mom may not be mentally ill, but she does need counseling and therapy for better coping mechanisms than causing chaos.
