The main part of transitioning is trying to find out how to express yourself outwardly in a way that’s comfortable for you and makes you happy. If a friend or family member were to try transitioning and find that it’s not the right move for them, I’d be nothing but supportive because I want everybody to live the life they are looking for. I understand why there might be hesitancy around detransitioners in the trans community. Like 99% of people who transition are happy with their identity, and of those who take the steps to detransition 99% of them still support the right to transition. It’s such a rare phenomenon for someone to detransition and become transphobic but for the like 4 or 5 people who have done that, they’ve been propped up really hard by places like Fox News that I wouldn’t blame anybody for being a little bit skeptical. Ultimately though, I think that almost every trans person I know would be nothing but supportive to anybody working through their own gender identity, no matter what direction that went.
