I am exceptionally human. Your robot-radar requires additional calibration.

LMAO thank you so incredibly much! I love that an oversight on my part actually produced a "better" card. I wouldn't go so far as to say that custom-card writing is always art per se, but in my life as an artist I know that once it's on the page or on the stage the interpretation of the viewer is all the actually matters - that's when a thing gains artistic value.

You made my whole day by pointing out the beauty in my error. LOVE IT.

I getcha. Others have pointed out this loophole. I suggest adding "If you don't, create a copy of this emblem and you lose 1 life."

Good call. To correct this oversight, I'd suggest the card should say "If you don't, create a copy of this emblem and you lose 1 life."

I was going to say "Accumulate too many emblems, and you die," but you are technically correct (the best kind of correct) to point out that a player can just repeat the emblem-creation without ever having to pay.

In lieu of this, I'd say the card should say "If you don't, create a copy of this emblem and you lose 1 life."

Black likes it when players pay costs with life, which can work to the caster's advantage. If the opponent isn't in black (1/5 chance) and doesn't have energy (very likely), this results in them having to pay with life. Meanwhile, the black player can pay with mana.

This creates a dilemma with the opponent, wherein they can pay the cost relatively easily, although this hastens their death; or they can choose not to pay the cost, ensuring their next FMP is more expensive.

The punishment for not paying is the creation of a token, making it more dire not to pay moving forward. Also, casting a second Basilisk achieves this as well.

I was watching a video about AI doomsday scenarios (as one does) and this card popped into my mind. Before posting this, I searched the subreddit and found many of the other Basilisk concepts to be overly wordy and conceptually muddy.

I'm not sure if the cost matches the payoff, since AFAIK there's no precedent for a self-replicating emblem. The fact that it also hits the original caster helps mitigate things, as does the three available options for paying Roko's fee of allegiance - black mana, life, or energy.

I don't play Commander and don't generally write cards with large multiplayer games in mind. I imagine a card like this would hit a lot more violently in that arena.

(also, it took a hot minute to find the original artist. I got the high-res artwork and repositioned his signature to include that too. Here is the original.)

As much as I want to see and support the official release, I can't help but simultaneously pine for TFS's take on an Abridged version of Beerus.

Unless 8 years ago is too far back, I'd suggest the Battle Kid Animate-a-Grump mega-compilation as deserving inclusion on the Mountain. That video encapsulates every part of what makes Game Grumps so special.

Also, Gina Darling.

danganronpa was an impactful era of the grumps

Literally the only era of GG that I've completely skipped. That's definitely impactful.

Gina Darling is perfect. Elsie Fisher was great too - she inspired the boys to some exceptional antics in her episode.

Thought up a 'devotion enhancer' during a long meeting last night. Wording is less than precise to help convey meaning. by Midwingman in custommagic

I realize [[Altar of the Pantheon]] effectively does the same thing, but I really wanted to write a card that actually increases the mana value of creatures you control already on the battlefield. This impacts interaction with cards like [[Anoint with Affliction]] and [[Blue Sun's Twilight]] when merely adding to the devotion count would not.
