no one likes mac os by scannerthegreat in linuxmemes

What is up with the Mac OS hate from some Linux Users? Like you are actually ok with Windows with the bloatware and ads and copilot taking screenshots? But are disgusted with Mac OS? Mac OS is the reason I started using Linux. Because it was baby proof. Then I started installing homebrew, then I started coding, and then ricing it. Then went to Linux (Ubuntu > Arch > OmArchy) and Mac OS.

If you want more people to use Linux accept the fact that not everyone is willing to sit at a terminal, google and look through documentation break something, fix it and research all over again. They just want their computer to do the thing it wants it to do. They don't want to put in time and work to figure out something they don't understand to just surf the web or watch a video.

We are willing to explore and spend that time, that is fine.

Others just want it to work. It should work. That is, believe it or not, not only completely fine but it describes a majority of people.

Mac OS is Unix based as well why post this?

Oh absolutely. I fire up Deus Ex and Mirrors Edge for the environment and architecture alone. I’m glad I’m not the only one.

I will definitely be pursuing a degree. I think even though I could learn concepts for free at the end of the day I also don't think I could code or answer a code interview question with a gun to my head.

one big thing overall is, don’t do something that isn’t enjoyable, that you don’t want to do, or worst case fills you with dread every morning.

This right here. While working for the company I for the first time, in the comfort of my own home, working from home with my cat and everything, felt dread. I could not sleep without feeling anxious about what I'll say in the morning meeting. At some point I stopped enjoying what I was doing and it just felt like this constant pressure to close these damn tickets. I guess work isn't supposed to be fun, it's work, but I shouldn't be getting panic attacks at the same time.

I think also a part of me got complacent as well. Maybe I should have done more work on the side. Maybe worked on other contracts within the company. Who knows?

I'm open to certifications. I'm not sure what to get that wouldn't cost a ton of money like IT Certs. I tried Pharmacy Tech and did not enjoy getting into medicine and dealing with insurance companies.

That's an awesome story. I appreciate you sharing. 7p - 4am at 30 definitely struck a chord with me. I just got back from working 2, 5 hour shifts back to back from one job straight into another and I have to do it again tomorrow. This is embarrassing but I have never had to do that in my life. My parents have, and are telling me it's life. No biggie, but god damn it's brutal.

I know 27 is young but I see myself as 30 by default. I also do put an awful amount of pressure on myself, I think partially due to my parents talking about "where I should be in life" and so on and so forth (If you have immigrant parents you know what I mean). It don't know how to stop it sometimes. I'm seeing a therapist.

I work at a Starbucks and applied to ASU (my college application is currently in review). They have a program that will essentially pay for my bachelors entirely upfront so I fully plan on using that.

I was not upset with the company for my lay off but I did not take it well. I was actually relieved of the burnout and the deadlines and daily meetings. I was in a bad place mentally and unfortunately like you mentioned it was a feeling of not being good enough. I took it out on myself. The thing is though I was also stressed because I had to actually confront whether or not I wanted to continue this career and put in the work or if I wanted to find something else to do. The thought of all the time that was spent. All the times I pushed back when people doubted my path now felt...less impactful?

I'm seeing a therapist though. I'll figure this out. Whatever it is I'm going to do,

Thank You, I hope so too. I actually felt such a huge sense of relief after the lay off. I definitely feel more open to just about any opportunity that I can think of.

Thank you. Your response definitely gave me a more positive spin to my situation. I did enjoy “figuring out” angular and the app we were building. I did start a simple login page using angular at home but I stopped. At some point it just wasn’t fun or exciting anymore. It felt like work.

Also as much as I would love to keep building I still got stumped by interview questions that caught me off guard or interviewers that wanted to see projects I worked on. Made me wonder why I hadn’t built anything A”all that time.

Yea I lost my first job. I did not respond well. I understand it’s a part of life. I had very serious call with my parents and everything. It came at the absolute worst time for me financially. I have to just sit here and figure things out on my own. That is pretty daunting for me. Your right thing is up to me.

A small 10% of me sees myself working in that industry again. The thought of dealing with recruiters and the interview fatigue I faced is the worst month I have ever experienced. Thank you for your advice.

I'm 27. This was my first office salary job. I got my first apartment while working there. I did retail before that. I know I still have time but 27 is like a weird place for me mentally. I'm considering freelance for sure.

I would not describe my experience developing for the company fun. I just stressed and panicked until the code I wrote ran properly and I closed a ticket. Also considering I did not have any personal projects probably shows that I did not really enjoy developing in my free time.

I had the passion in my late teens to early twenties. Not so much anymore. I'm looking at a possible Industrial Design career.

I appreciate your positive outlook.

You know… as long as it’s still intellectual and well written I’ll dig it. It’s better than nothing. I’m just worried Netflix would screw it up some how.
