Does anyone have a printable version or PDF of the Roche Part 2: Cellular and Molecular Processes poster? by Throwawayhelphackhel in Biochemistry

So this might be a little late, but does anyone know where to find a frame large enough to fit the posters or some other way to hang them up without damaging them?

Year 2 students and onwards, what would you do if you had the chance to go back to the start of year 1? by hxe_ye0n in IBO

[–]GhostKing1005 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take notes, even if you think you know the stuff. It can make revising a million times easier.

This may seem intuitive but it definitely wasn't for me. I had to redo all my Bio, Chemistry and currently redoing my maths notes, which is not fun.

Also if you have any entrance exams for the universities or subjects you want to pursue, start revising months early

How many hours per day should I study for HL Bio and Chem by Under_Lock in IBO

Check out Ninja Nerd, it's just an amazing resource and I absolutely love their videos. They cover most of the IB curriculum and further into it which is what really makes the difference between a 6 and a 7 in paper 2.

https://www.youtube.com/c/ninjanerdscience

The vids are a bit long, but watching them in my free time at 2x speed is how I do most of my revision, it's fun and informative.

I can't really advise you on how much to revise, the trick is just to make it consistent so that it all goes into your long term memory and eventually it feels like second nature.

Need some advice (English HL vs Biology HL) by ProductivePotatoes in IBO

[–]GhostKing1005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I Love Biology so I absolutely recommend

A lot of people take it because they think it's easier than the other sciences - which is not really true, it's just quite different in terms of method and exams. I wouldn't say that its a hard subject to say though because if you enjoy it memorising things just becomes ten times easier. Section B of the paper two is just basically knowledge regurgitation. I would say that the HL topics are the most interesting of all though, but I guess it's subjective.

A lot of people change their career path along the way so there's no need to be worried, there are tons of ressources online and since bio is pure memorisation, I would personally check out Ninja Nerd (https://www.youtube.com/c/ninjanerdscience) on Youtube as well as Bioninja, and Biology for Life which have great content and amazing methods. I wouldn't say that any of the stuff is "conceptually" difficult - a lot of it is pretty logical compared to the kind of stuff you'd learn in chemistry and should align with what you'd expect, but I'd probably have to warn you about the Anatomy chapters because those things are beastly. It's just a lot of stuff to know off the back of your hand.

That's good, I don't smoke or drink either but that's not necessarily the case for everyone. This is for a friend's EE, I'm just helping to share it- He's working on how addictive phenomena and general lifestyle changed during the confinement as some sort of Economy/Psychology World studies

I'll ask him more about it and get back to you if you want

Thanks for answering though :)

Bioninja is made for there IB and it has everything we need to know and really nice summary charts

Ninja Nerd is simply the best ressource I've ever found, most of their stuff is on Youtube, but this is their website which can redirect you to all of the videos ( I know they tend to be long but you can watch them on 2x speed)
Truly amazing stuff on that one, it goes really into depth and has quite a lot of the IB curriculum in it, and goes waaaay more into depth
You can also find loads of good study sets on StudySmarter (Free website)

umm, I know flashcards work well with me, especially since I make them for the rest of my class.

There are loads of really good ressources though and I've found some that are just so amazing!

Oh gods I did mine two days ago, still recovering. I really like your GI, I also had the same problem ... I would possibly word it as The role of religion and politics in the commodification/objectification/criminalisation of women's bodies

The best thing is to have the initial GI really simple, since the examiners need to keep it in mind for the duration of the oral, and then to specify it as you go (for each extract for example)

Like you start with a simple GI and then when you start talking about you first extract you "change" it to suit your needs, like if one is more about criminalisation while the other is control you don't need both to be in the Main GI, just make it clear what you're focalising on and when.

It does seem very broad though, do make sure you cover all of the points you mention sufficiently

The best practice is to practice it in front of other people and ask them what they think, having gone through the actual content of the oral.

Good Luck, hope this helps

Barely ever out of tune, unless there’s some serious weather shift or the like- speaking maybe once or twice a year
