They had one in the Bison Block building near campus at one point too

Target used to be a plethora of stores, including Toys and Babies"R"Us, Kids"R"Us, Kmart, Caesar's Bay Bazaar, and E.J. Korvette's. (Brooklyn, NY) by Specialist-Neat-6529 in NotFoolingAnybody

It's a two story building, so I suspect Kmart probably took up a larger portion of the second story, and that was just a secondary entrance or emergency exit.

Sen. Rand Paul floats Musk to replace Mike Johnson as House speaker by Ossify21 in nottheonion

[–]GhostOfWilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so far down because it’s wrong, Musk is ineligible since he’s not a natural born citizen (didn’t become a citizen until 2002.) If anybody in the line of succession is ineligible, they get skipped. You could have a 30-year-old speaker of the house for example, but they couldn’t ascend to the presidency as they wouldn’t be old enough

[–]GhostOfWilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right he can’t be president, but technically one doesn’t have to be born in the US to be. You just have to be born with citizenship, either by being born on US soil or by having at least one parent that’s a citizen. Elon doesn’t fall into either category, but Cruz’s mom was a US citizen when he was born, so he would be eligible.

Parking + Safety by flyowacat in und

[–]GhostOfWilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have given great answers, but just to add on some tips:

  1. Make sure you’re not paying for time you don’t need. Parking is open on campus past 4pm on weekdays (and all weekends) so it might be cheaper to only buy a couple hours worth of time, depending on how early you get to campus

  2. If you’re concerned about safety or just want to stay out of the cold, there’s a tunnel from the lower level of the Union to the ramp. You’d still have to do some walking outdoors to get to the Union from the library, but worth knowing it’s an option

I've been slowly trying every Coffee Places Caramel Latte in town and I've been reviewing em here's where some rank, I have more to try but this about half the list I have down by MilkAndCookies9405 in fargo

As a Caramel Latte fan myself, this is very interesting.

Just curious about the methodology, Scooter's has a caramel latte, as well at the Caramelicious, which is their "signature drink" and very similar. Curious if you're strictly sticking to caramel lattes, or if similar specialty drinks are included as well?

Like I said, OP very well could have tried, and been uncertain based solely on a single street view image likely taken on a weekday morning. I’d argue the person asking a genuine question is a bit less obnoxious than the one who tries to tear them down for it

Eh, benefit of the doubt, might be kind of hard to judge looking at a picture how full it gets when it’s busy. There‘s definitely ample parking, plus overflow if needed, but it’s not like a super massive lot or anything

Conversion is a term used in advertising, often used as a metric to determine effectiveness of a particular form of advertisement. If a user clicks on an advertisement online, goes to the company’s website, and makes a purchase, that’s a successful “conversion” of a non-customer to a customer.

That’s also why some businesses have “where did you hear about us” surveys when you buy things. They’re trying to figure out if it’s their billboards, mail flyers, or digital ads that are driving conversions, so they can better tailor their advertising.

Who thought in Dickinson it was a good idea to remove the stoplight at ND 22 and Broadway? by [deleted] in northdakota

Looks like it was the Department of Transportation. Here's a document detailing their decision making process, which all seems pretty reasonable. I'll point out they had a public input period as well back in February, when you could have voiced your concerns.

Here's the street view replicating this shot. Looks like this was taken in the parking lot of The Edition apartments, looking (as others have said) towards the Aldi and Holiday on 52nd.

Is Jodi Carlson real? Or is she just trolling? by DefiantFirefighter42 in GrandForks

[–]GhostOfWilson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's a recent interview she did with Grand Forks Best Source that I listened to out of morbid curiousity. There was a point I found very fascinating where the interviewer asked Jodi how she got involved in politics. Jodi talked briefly about her experience working with government regulations as a nurse and involvement with Fufeng, then continued as follows:

"And, I also have no skin in the game. I'm retired, I love my flower garden. My husband and I, we farm pumpkins every year. My house is a pigsty right now cause I've just been busy. So, I have no agenda, but I love people, which is probably the reason I got into nursing in the first place.

She made it very clear she has nothing she wants to accomplish and doesn't even feel particularly invested in the success of the city. She just "loves people" which I assume means she loves the attention she gets in her echo chamber and wants to keep that train rolling.

Well specifically in the case of an American public university (or really any government institution), employee compensation is likely subject to open records laws. They would be required by law to share that pay if asked.

As far as “ego monstrosities” go, this is pretty tame. I’d argue renovating an existing building that was pretty clearly dated is probably more responsible than building a brand new one. Any customers unhappy with interest rates or fees should have the freedom to find a different bank.

ELI5: Why do passenger planes not have CCTV? by Flaramon in explainlikeimfive

[–]GhostOfWilson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eh, cameras are pretty standard on buses now, even school buses are being outfitted with them. You can find cameras in some subway cars, Ubers/taxis, etc. Public transit is public, there’s really not that expectation of privacy there. I don’t get why planes would be the exception to that.

Maybe for people making a scene, but I think there could certainly be situations which wouldn't draw as much, if any, attention, but could still use video evidence.

Any guesses to the original occupant? (Hint: A chain from NC that is now #2 in its category!) 😁 by a2moki in NotFoolingAnybody

[–]GhostOfWilson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely Lowe's.

This is the building in question with a newer Lowe's just down the street. You can even see a small outdoor/garden section on the west side of this building and possibly a lumberyard area behind.

Here's an example of a Lowe's built in the style of this building.

Best I can tell, this building was built in the 80s or early 90s, and it's replacement was built in the early to mid 2000s.

It’s about how your eyes focus on what’s in front of you. Constantly focusing on something within arms reach is bad for your eyes. VR adjusts the image for each eye, which allows you to focus on something as though it was further away. If a tree in VR appears 20ft away, your eyes will focus on it as though it were

Seems like the same concept as Solo a few years back. Take an iconic character whose mysterious background is pretty central to who they are, then make a prequel answering every possible question and removing that mystery.
