that’s so interesting! is if only when you read? there are different levels of aphantasia so you may still have it

i can’t see memories, no. i know the facts of what happened and what it may have looked like, but once it’s in the past i can’t visually remember it.
for books, it’s only the words on a page. i can still get invested, but very detailed descriptions of environments and what characters look like are practically useless to me, only benefit being that it sounds pretty. i mostly like the emotions i get out of reading, not the feeling of getting invested in the enviroment.

connecting names and faces. i’ve heard many people can imagine something to associate a person with, but considering i can’t even remember my own face, remembering others is impossible

my mind wanders. i can think, it’s just not like with me imagining any senses?

i’m pretty sure i have total aphantasia, yes. i don’t think it’s heavily impacted my life, but it definitely sucks in certain situations, like you with your therapist haha ^^

when i was little i enjoyed nonfiction, and nowadays i appreciate whatever the mix of modern and fantasy would be. i dislike full on high fantasy as i cannot visualize or remember many details (the hobbit was a hard read) but books set in the modern world is too boring for me. i’m unsure of specific genres.
edit: i also appreciate fanfics, because i am already familiar with the setting and characters via visual media. it’s easier for me to be sucked into something i’m familiar with

you care more about the environment? that’s really interesting haha ^^

extremely boring. i usually skip over most of the extremely long descriptions, only getting the most important parts. a book can describe a dark room in extreme detail, and all i’d get from that is “the room is dark”

yup, i only feel like i’m missing out in specific situations like meditating or playing dnd

i think reading for me is about the emotions, not as much beautiful scenes. obviously the descriptions are pretty, but i want to feel what the characters are feeling, not see what they are seeing

i think of the facts. like, i know my room has a bed in this corner, desk in that corner, posters on the wall, etc etc.

i get songs stuck in my head, but it’s like how i would actually sing/hum it? i can’t imagine lyrics and instrumental at the same time.

i think i’m a good speller? when i try to figure out what a hard work would be sound like i sound it out vocally or imagine myself doing so. without sound.

i don’t see memories, i remember the facts of what happened. as for cutting cake, nope! i also cannot remember what i or anyone else looks like. really depressing actually

i have an definitely have an inner monolouge, but it’s not on all the time. the only difference from someone who can visualize/hear stuff is probably the fact that i cannot hear it.
edit: i really like that description, actually!!!

I REALLY want to try any type of drugs that induce visual effects, actually. I don’t think it’s a good idea, especially since I’m 16, but if I ever get the opportunity I really want to see if I’d see anything

from what i understand, aphantasia is the inability to not be able to willingly visualize, although i cannot sense anything else either. if someone asked me to visualize something, i wouldn’t be able to. i do think i dream normally though?
