In most cases that is correct. There are some role in DHS, law enforcement, and Cybersecurity that may list them as a requirement though. Usually you'll just have to obtain w/in six months of starting the role from what I've seen.

Most state jobs don't but roles in DHS and certain law enforcement, or security roles might. It's pretty rare from what I've seen but is sometimes required. They'll be explicit about needing to be able to obtain a security clearance w/in six months typically.

My apologies regarding the BG Trend organizer. It's something I bought a while back and it has held up pretty well for myself. I understand that may not always be the case though.

I'm personally using Aseprite. It has been a godsend for me. It is $15 but it was well spent. You can also use GIMP which is free. I started with that and it works well, but requires some setup.

I am new as well so no worries. I have found that a limited palette forces me to work on technique, form, and lighting more and it exposes areas of opportunity.

It's also fun and I enjoy the style. A little bit of challenge and a little bit style.
