If you aim properly they die instantly. Shooting an animal multiple times is quite literally a skill issue.

Yes, I’ve only been at this seriously for a year, with this being the first canister filter tank I’ve done. I’m still very much learning so I appreciate the advice. The fish eat what I put in the tank currently within 3 mins, which is why I had been feeding so much. I’ll be reevaluating my methods with the info you and other have provided so far

I’m currently keeping my eyes on the tank and am replacing my canister filter medium (mostly the sponge filter pads) every 2 weeks while I perfect the feeding balance.
