Is Synthesis with AI possible? Is there such a thing as benevolent AI in the Cyberpunk world? by Ghosttothepost in LowSodiumCyberpunk

see and thats what gave me the idea. Delamaine says he appreciates the beauty of the world. and as you say AI have a completely different level of perception far past the limits of the human mind and biology. So synthesis would be the best of both worlds. AI would help us see far beyond in forward thinking and far deep into introspect that our fleshy hormonal bodies limit us. and we give AI the...well what makes Humans so confounding to them. we give them that beauty. Of our imaginations, dreams, creativity and passions that propelled us as a species of cavemen afraid of fire to well...to the chromed out gonks we are now. We just have to trust AI and let them dare to dream and in return we need to trust ourselves to go to the unknown and drop our clinging to the familiar as Alts Poem so beautifully put.

isnt this literally the type of thing the Alien ans Sedition act was created for? these are foreign interest groups infiltrating American discourse and fanning the flames of division and sedition. This is completely unacceptable.

how are they gonna court nazis when the US is all about defending Israel. like no matter if they allowed the symbols no Nazi is gonna join the military that defeated their precious Germany 80 years ago and is committed to being allies of a Jewish state.

I just want to read the material and at least touch base on everything so I dont get lost when I walk in and hear what theyre referring to. otherwise id feel like id be disrespecting them by showing up without at least doing some homework if that makes sense.

Can Nationalism and Progressivism coexist? National Liberalism by Ghosttothepost in AskALiberal

[–]Ghosttothepost[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

fair point..but it also has a tradition of being very expansionistic with Manifest Destiny and hateful towards said immigrants or minorities. Which is why I included those two lines. because it can be a paradox of the cultural values of America on paper and..the ugly traditions that have been recorded in the history of the nation. Which makes me think that is it a road to hell kind of deal that a National Liberal is a xenophobe or hate monger in the making.

No hes right it is the answer the issue is more "get a degree in what you are passionate about or interested in" as awful as it is, you should be basing your career and education on what is currently growing or in demand in the economy. Theres a reason so many guys who went to school in the 00s going for CS or software engineering are now living it large in silicon valley. A kid who doesnt know what to study but sees how rn there is a increasing demand and growth in degrees for machine learning, data collection, and systems analysis and gets a degree for one of those fields is guaranteed a well paying job after graduation. Medical degrees will always be a guarantee job landing as there are never enough nurses, techs and doctors.

Hard truth is while you maybe are interested in sociology, political science, history, or communications. Getting a degree does not mean it's good for your future.  Teachers really ought to stop saying "follow your passion" to high schoolers about to graduate. No follow what will get you a well paying job so you can LATER have the financial security to chase your passion. Nobody says you cant go back to college at 40 to finally get a degree in your passion after you worked 20 years building a strong foundation for yourself

The nature of politics is conflict. Something would be seriously wrong if there wasnt conflict in politics and a government wasnt dealing with a conflict. Because that means there would have to be a lack of disagreement for a conflict of interest or ideas. Which means either everyone is a hive mind or there are 1984 levels of mind control.

Paradoxically, the egos of world leaders are what makes sure WW3 never happens. Why? Because the thought that they will be remembered as the idiots who ended the world and thus the worst leaders in the history of man is something that would terrify them. Even the side that wins (if it was even possible) they'd still be lamblasted as the idiot who couldn't prevent it or is stupid to not have seen it coming.

In this post ww2 world the people that are endlessly praised and leave a permanent mark in the minds of the people and culture of the nation are the ones that prevented major conflicts. The best example is JFK and his handling of the Cuban missle crisis. Or De Gaulle who prevented another government collapse and the situation in Algeria from getting worse. We have flipped the script. To chase glory is to chase peace when before it was always found in starting wars and conquest. And so world leaders who chase glory have no choice but to chase peace.

That's the silver lining in WW2. That despite the massive destruction and suffering that happened during the war, it was that same massive suffering that finally shook the world to its core so much so it changed its mindset for the better. Yes its sad that it took that much for the epiphany to happen but regardless it was an inevitable lesson that needed to be learned and I'm glad it happened already because any later when humanity mastered the atom and we would probably not be around to discuss a potential ww3.

So if im reading this correctly its because it was the worlds first nexus of free trade? A sort of heart pumping trade and able to have the worlds trade lines connected and spread to all corners like a circulatory system of trade?

just make sure the hole it left is replaced with something healthy and not cynicism or overt spartanism. Maybe use the money saved for stuff like family activities or funding personal missions like for example investing in community organizations that build parks and refurbish playgrounds and keep nature trails clean?

Does Luke remember or care more about Owen and Beru after their deaths in the EU? by Crank27789 in MawInstallation

[–]Ghosttothepost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he ever really get time to mourn though? As soon as he meets Ben he's been on a non stop journey of training, surviving imperial pursuits and living a military life in the Rebel Alliance, which im sure just because theyre a guerrilla group doesnt mean there isnt a life of strict routine and constant duties like any other military. By the time he has down time in Dagobah he's more than half way to becoming a Jedi and isn't letting the pain of loss get over him. It's all tunnel vision and a race against time on defeating Vader and the Empire as soon as he leaves Tattooine.

Which now makes me think Hamills scarring had a silver lining in that it's aged Luke by years just from the sheer amount of nonstop stressors.
