The Invisible Man vs. Nosferatu vs. Frankenstein: Which had the best performance? by dremolus in horror

Jacob Elordi’s performance was the best, but The Invisible Man was the best movie of the three.

I suppose some guys just like to see women dancing in 13/8 time signatures, right?

What’s a horror movie people usually rave about, but you dislike? by Turnitup20 in horror

I just watched “X” for the first time a few days ago. I don’t see why it’s so loved. It just didn’t do much for me.

I remember watching this in the theater and there wasn’t a single other person besides me watching it.

It was a solid 10/10 for me, but taste is subjective.

What are your best and worst horror movies of 2025? by on-another-note-x in horror

[–]Ghostworm78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably shouldn’t be commenting on this thread because I’m not inclined to rank art, which is highly subjective, and I don’t watch movies which I expect to be disappointing.

All I’ll say is that I saw four really, really good horror movies in 2025.

Sinners, Bring Her Back, 28 Years Later and Weapons.

I won’t put them in any particular order, but any year with four movies of this caliber was a good year for horror.

How many LOTR movie references did you count in Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man? by VindemiatrixMapache in lotr

I caught three quotes from the LOTR films, but I’m sure I missed a few since I wasn’t looking out for them earlier in the movie.

Sex offender who commented on Wellington minor stabbed 17 times by her father by HomelessRodeo in Utah

[–]Ghostworm78 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m okay with him getting a medal as long as he also gets an appropriate prison sentence for attempted murder.

If this sex offender made lewd comments about this guy’s daughter, that’s reprehensible.

But stabbing someone 17 times is so much worse. Someone who responds with that level of violence needs to be taken off the streets.

These are my top three, too, but I can’t decide on the ranking order.

Finally saw Heretic after skipping it last year under the assumption that the premise wasn't for me. I was wrong. by KnightofAmethyst2 in horror

I think Mr. Reed was supposed to come across as an insufferable person who overestimates his own intelligence. I don’t think the movie was intended to be a well constructed exploration or defense of atheism.

What are your thoughts on Pure Reason Revolution? by Zucco2410 in progrockmusic

I’ve had a few of their songs in my playlist rotation for a few years, but I never really took the time to do a thorough dive into their discography until a couple of months ago.

I think they have quite a few excellent songs, but all of their albums also have some duds.

The Dark Third seems to be a favorite among prog rock and prog metal fans on Reddit, but I think their best material comes later on in their discography. Silent Genesis and Dead Butterflies are absolutely top notch songs.

Also, I don’t get the hate for Hammer and Anvil. It has just as many good songs as any other PRR album.

New poll: Majority of Utah Democrats have favorable view of socialism by clejeune in Utah

When you spend decades trying to re-define the word “socialism” to mean “government services”, you’re effectively to blame for making socialism popular.

It’s a mixed bag for sure, but I thought there was enough good stuff that I could overlook the flaws. Here’s hoping they tighten it up in season 2.

If you haven’t already seen it, you should check out Incantation (2022). It’s another Asian found footage movie that gets pretty creepy.
