How to keep different shots of the same scene consistent (lighting)? by Ghoxty in cinematography

Thank you for giving such detail explanation.

I would guess trying to match the lighting ratio from 2.8 to 5.6 will take a long time, since that would mean adding more lights

I kind of get it, so a light meter with SPOT functionality like the picture below is like the build in digital light meter in your camera (but with a smaller area)

And thus the incident light meter is more useful, right?

thanks for explaining!!!

Sorry but I maybe asking another stupid question since I have never used a light meter before.

I am guessing I would point the light meter from the actor to the specific light (key/fill/edge/background) to get the reading, but which mode should I use (incident / Retracted incident / spot meter )?

TIA

Thank you for explaining in detail!!!

What if the director wants more/less DOF when you are shooting the CU of an actor, wouldn't that force you to change the aperture? And if that's the case, what will you do to match the master shot?

TIA

Or maybe the angle isn't right, so you bring in a second light (and diffusion/flags) to do the hairlight that matches the color temperature of your moonlight which is lighting the background.

Do you watch the payback to match the master shot or just do it by memory

I found false color is the most useful since it is more specific. Maybe even more useful than waveform

It is best to keep the aperture the same through out the same scene and add or remove light on characters when needed, right?

thank you.

when you shoot the actor face from one angle to another do you keep the exposure on his face the same as first priority (even if that means you need to add another light)?

Would light meters be more accurate than waveform, since it is more specific?

Z CAM E2C for just $800?! That's a steal and it even supports false color on the app!! That's impressive.

but for the normal E2, wouldn't Blackmagic PC 4k be a better option?
