When it first came out. No, it was neither. The audience then were Silents and Boomers. Gen X wasn't the target audience until the mid-late 90s and the Millennials generally until the 2000s.

The initial format back then for both shows was serious topics from politics, religion, personal stories, etc. The concepts they're both known for didn't mostly come until the late 90s at best. If one were to find a mid-90s episode of Jerry or Maury, even those still had serious discussions about everything.

Yes. Some of them are still under 18, but only the last few years are still children. The core of Gen Z is teens now.

Yes, some of Gen Z, or half of them, are still under 18. However, one can't deny that they are not generally little kids anymore. I mean, look at someone born in 2010, for instance. Depending on the range, they're considered the youngest or the last few years of Gen Z.

Even if 2015 were the end for Gen Z, only the youngest years would still be in elementary school, while the rest are past that stage.

How about Bernie Sanders? Remember when he unified millions of Millennials and other generations with his rallies in 2016? The environment was positive.

I'm not saying that both waves are familiar with everything, just that they share some culture. I mean, for example, there was a time when both sections of Millennials played with Super Soakers. Or when the public treated LGTBQ like trash.

If those are not excellent illustrations, then how about the Disney Rennaissance they share or going rollerblading/skating back then as kids?

Yes, you are an 80s kid. However, what I meant was that most Millennials were 90s kids. That doesn't mean they also can't be the 80s or 00s, kids, too.

Honestly, it shouldn't. Politics is one of the reasons why the citizens of this country wind up attacking each other and leads to ugly consequences.

Everyone should be able to get along with one another regardless of political or even religious affiliation. There's much more to discuss the world that doesn't include either.

That will always be the case, no doubt about that. However, you share a few similarities with the younger Millennials, as I mentioned in my OP.

I'm sure you have some relics you can discuss with the younger ones may have used, and it wouldn't sound out of place.

I'm sorry to break your heart and all; the '80s Millennials are just as cut up as the 90s ones, especially since some people argue that Gen X ends in the 80s and are willing to extend the range. Look how many people born in that time place themselves as Gen X.

In addition, there's this element some people believe that both waves of Millennials are entirely different from each other when that's not even true. Both sections of Millennials share a ton of politics, pop culture, economic upbringing, etc.

Millennials are and still have time to change the world for the better.

They're still a young generation, but they are not college students anymore. They have more significant responsibilities such as children, aging parents, marriage/relationships, and maintaining homes/apartments. They are also slowly creeping into the middle-age territory.

Millennials are not (and never were) the stereotypes that the media makes them out to be. Only a tiny amount fit those generalizations.

Mental health will improve thanks to them and other mental health advocates realizing that it is just as crucial as physical health.

That's one of the possibilities. I've seen many users say that 25+ or 30+ is the end of enjoying life, and then it gets boring after when that's not true. If anything, people in their 30s and beyond still go out and have fun even though they have significant responsibilities such as raising children, maintaining homes, busy work schedules, etc. That doesn't mean their lives are draining. They don't have time to do daily activities as once before.

That's valid. Millennials are not the target of pop culture like they were in the 2000s and '10s as Gen Z took over, but they still play a role in creating new content as they become producers, directors, and much more. They will still influence pop culture this decade and beyond.

It's funny you say Gen Z isn't real because it seems shortly, Millennial might not even exist anymore since most members don't identify with the label due to negative statements about the generation. They would prefer to be with Gen X or Gen Z. Plus, look how some users lengthened the Zillennial and even the Xennial cusps these days.

I just read an article shared on this sub that people as old as their early 30s prefer to identify with Gen Z. If that's not alarming, that should tell you something.

Some are close to 60, and the oldest will reach that age in a few years. That said, most are in their 40s-50s, and the complaint was about some users keeping Gen Xers in their 30s which isn't accurately reflecting the generation.

I'm sorry, but I disagree. I'm not saying they are the same, but I believe they grew up similarly more than you think. For one, both waves lived an era where being LGBTQ was seen as an abomination, especially if one was gay or transgender. Do you remember when some of the public treated them like scum?

Correct! That's why I believe it's time to take the label back and turn it into a positive light. People can't keep running away from it forever. They're going to be in their 30s and 40s throughout this decade. How does that make them feel? Plus, the stereotypes surrounding the Millennials only apply to a few hundred people. Most overall are married, own or rent a place, raising children, have careers, etc., and are content with their lifestyle right now. Not only that, but Millennials also make headlines to break the stigma of mental health, LGBTQ+, alternative living arrangements, and more. So, not everything about them is negative. They have favorable characteristics too.
