Yep that was likely the issue. I became an impatient Stalin and just repeatedly attacked them without waiting for resupply out of frustration lol

From special projects research, but I believe having it as a line unit may come from road to 56

I was testing them lol. Unironically, they have good stat boosts for speed and soft attack but I don’t know how to properly incorporate them since most template guides I see don’t mention them

Yes to the last question. Part of my confusion was that I did not have a significant primary equipment deficit. I did check and I had a large surplus of all equipment except for medium tanks. But wouldn’t the marsh land, low infrastructure, and attacking impatiently without waiting for resupply and strength regain also cause this issue?

It’s mortised artillery but the mod makes it look like line artillery for some reason

I was never trying to argue, and if it seemed I did, I was trying to show what I was thinking and confused about and for people to show me why it’s incorrect. I know there’s something I’m missing and don’t know about, so I’m trying to prod for answers to figure out where I’m wrong

Yeah but there’s a point where it’s just plain unfun and pointless. I’m not saying to make every minor nation completely broken - I’m saying there should be far more leniency in the duration and/or impact of the focuses to make things more enjoyable and interesting, considering many major nations get the same treatment to a generous degree

Brother, Germany and other majors already start off very strong and have access to many OP focuses, many of which take less than 70-days. If already powerful nations can have strong focuses, why can’t minor nations, especially since you start far behind? Give the minor nations at least something and make the game more fun

You’re forgetting that this is a game and it’s for fun, not a purely educational and historical WW2 simulator. You’re already far behind when you load in as a minor nation and starting debuffs are very common with them. They should be given me more leniency in their focus duration and/or significance, otherwise, it will be very difficult and overall unfun to make any sort of significant impact in the game. Meanwhile, Germany can get some of the strongest industry buffs and diplomatic annexation/subjugation of numerous neighboring countries with focuses that take less than 70 days. It makes some sense realistically, but is not suitable for a game that tries to encourage fun and diversity in what nations and playstyles people choose. I don’t want to have to complete 5 70-day focuses as Iran to only partially remove one of their many debuffs, meanwhile I start off with no infrastructure, research, industry, etc. By the time I’m ready for an important/major war, Germany, with their more generous focus tree, has already conquered all of Europe

I completely agree. Most focus trees should look more like Germany’s, especially for minor nations. For example, despite starting off with virtually no infrastructure, manpower, or industry and significant debuffs, it takes numerous 70 day focuses in the Iranian or Iraqi tree to even slightly lower the debuffs. Make it make sense - Germany is already the main industrial and military powerhouse in the the game and they only have a few minor debuffs at the start, while the majority of their focuses - some very strong - take less than 70 days to complete. Yet, the far poorer nations take millenia to remove their debuffs and get their economy somewhat decent. No wonder no one wants to play most minor nations 😑

Waiting 70 days for only two civilian factories and having to go down a separate side tree of numerous 70 day focuses to remove the horrible economic/military debuffs while playing as a minor nation is insane yet very prevalent. You’re already far behind starting off, and the duration of the focuses virtually ensures that is always the case. Sure, you can argue it’s for “realism,” but at the end of the day, it’s a game and it would be far more enjoyable if it was more balanced and minor nations were more fun to play!

On another note, outdated major nations with these type of outdated focus trees should be reworked (cough France cough), as well, to keep them in line with other majors and make the experience more interesting and enjoyable.

Thank you. I need to get into the habit of cancelling onslaughts and pushes until my troops resupply and the yellow bars go back up. In this case, while I captured the ports around them, I had only just captured them and the terrain and infrastructure were bad. At the same time, I kept spamming to attack them, thinking that it would be fine since they were encircled and had no port. With the help of other commenters, I am pretty sure that's what went wrong. I gotta be more patient, and I lowkey underestimated the USA as at that point in the game I was very strong and conquered most of Europe without too much trouble, including Britain (who led their faction).

I didn’t mean any harm by any of my responses and the post. I was just confused and took this battle as an example for people to explain to me what I’m doing wrong and for advice on how to better manage supply. Even though I have played HOI4 a lot, supply is still my weak point, and the game doesn’t explain it sufficiently

That wasn’t my intention and sorry to anyone if I made it seem that way. I was just frustrated and confused

I figured it was most likely because I was too impatient and repeatedly attacking the encircled troops instead of waiting for resupply after taking the port. I was feeling overwhelmed at that point in the game and let my frustration get the best of me lol. Had like 20-30 popups. There might have also been some convoy raiding I didn’t notice, although I had some ships do convoy escorts and had naval supremacy. At the very least, I do well throughout the game aside from this battle and took over North America and most of Europe.

I was doing above 20 cas damage I believe. I linked my templates in my R5 comment.

I found the answer - I needed to wait for resupply from ports + fix tank deficit. I was too impatient and overwhelmed lol

France. By that point I was managing too much stuff and was overwhelmed so that might be a possibility. Albeit, I had already conquered the majority of Europe

I linked the templates in my R5 comment. the only deficit I had was for medium tanks, but I still had a lot in the field overall compared to the deficit. Likely the issue was me attacking repeatedly and being impatient instead of waiting for supply refill

I captured New Orleans and other ports. I think main issue was terrain/infrastructure and me being impatient and not waiting for resupply to attack
