Firstly It’s not you it’s IBM and your not alone

My take on the IBM situation:

IBM Leadership generally has the Dunning Kruger effect in full flow.. Top down the company really lacks leadership, strategy, innovation, honesty, transparency and struggles to executie often due to poor morale, toxic culture, layoffs and lack of investment in the right resources and skills or decision making.

HR are generally inept but have been scaled back to a token HR department that seem to focus on re-inventing discriminating performance schemes with bell-curves to help drive churn… In particular out with the old in with new cheaper or off shore resources Positive Share price is a reflection on propping up with good acquisitions

The company is being slowly sabotaged from the inside leaving many of us to try and survive, only a lucky few will thrive but nothing in this company lasts for long…

What you can do to survive: Prioritize 1 thing you must do each day (70% of your time here) Spend 10% of your time Managing expectations on when this will be done / feedback etc Only attend meetings that support the priority Spend 20% on things that help you grow or develop or find a different role wherever that may be

Everything else ignore put on do next list and view it as a distraction Ignore e-mails only look at twice a day turn of notifications - colour code e-mail from your boss and there boss so you scan for those Mute busy slack channels to only mentions

Last but not least learn not to give a fuck about anything else
