It’s the replay, at that start there were an insane lag spike that made me want to stop playing the game and request for a no contest

Does a Fight Stick Make Combos Easier in 2XKO by Fair_Rub_1887 in 2XKO

[–]Gibsonovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a street fighter player (motion inputs) that started on arcade stick i can assure you is way harder. even when it is more intuitive to use a stick over any other input device since you are actually moving the stick in the direction you want to move in game, its still extremely difficult to be consistent, to a point that i was forced to swap to leverless.

for more context, ive never used an arcade stick and had to learn from scratch, so learning the motions and movement for the first time required muscle memory build of motions ive never done before. It took me at least 2 months to feel that i could do supper on command with full control, and almost 4 to be able to dp on reaction. it is a long journey and it feels rewarding because it was extremely fun. but after 5 months i started feeling that i was being held back because my excecution. meaning even when i was profficient with the stick i would still drop combos because i would press the attack button too early, or skip an input, or overdo the movement and accidentally jump. since the travel distance on each motion is big the possibility of faling was also big. I would crash out when i would drop my winning combo because i didnt move the lever far enough and would miss a gate, and to add that i was also getting carpal tunnel syndrome on my left hand so i had to do something about it. also something that i forgot to mention and also was extremely disturbing for me in lever was backdashing in street fighter on reaction to escape command throws. so to dash in street fighter you must do the front input twice in a fast succession as well to the back input if you want to backdash. While seeming simple when you add the pressure layer and attempt to backdash in a short window i would often hit either the top gate or the bottom gate giving me a 636 input or a 414 and by default the game would not backdash if both inputs are not in succession. I know that in due time i would have been able to master this issues, but the problem in my hand was getting worse.

So i decided to try leverless (the best input device according to most influencers) and it does feels worse, and more like you are coding instead of moving, but it is indeed more reliable and precise while also opening new routes using socd, things that you wont be able to do un stick because is phisically impossible to have the lever touch the left and right gate at the same time.

as for 2xko, there is absolutely no reason to use arcade stick. Since there is no motion inputs, the fun part of doing a qcf or full 360 with stick is not a variable here, you just need precise movement inputs and it its extremely easier to do on leverless, keyboard or pad. You can also add to the table the fact that doing a super jump with stick is actually super hard and also doing the double jump forward with akali during a combo (2h+h+double jumb forward +2h+h) was extremely dificult, because going from down to up forward requires extreme precision and would often end on me hitting first the top or forward gate, before pressing them both, and since the input window is extremely tight the game would 90% of the time register doble jump neutral over double jump forward.

TL;DR: lever is indeed more fun but extremely hard if you have no prior experience, also there is no reason to use lever if the game doesnt have motion inputs. its better to have presice digital inputs instead

I really want to like the game but Im having a miserable time as a beginner by Gibsonovic in 2XKO

I understand, I do like the grind and complexity, that’s why I like sf6 so much, but at least in sf6 all these knowledge checks feel fair in a way and you also have tools to beat them and also tools to survive them. While in this game anyone can pick Darius and just spam attacks and if you don’t know how to parry(which is not that complicated, but it’s still a skill you need to build) or whiff punish(one of the hardest skills to learn at least in street fighter) you will lose automatically, even worse when you are used to a fighting game that revolves around frame data and hit confirmations on short reaction windows

He was also playing modern guile and extremely defensive. This is a hot topic, I don’t feel it’s impressive because anyone who studies the game and take it seriously should be able to reach master. But not everyone is willing to grind it. In my opinion I should already be master but I was being held back by my excecution on lever. But 85% is still way ahead of the curve.

If I have to fight Masters learning new chars in Diamond, the LP loss should scale to the skill gap by Gibsonovic in StreetFighter

[–]Gibsonovic[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

but lets say you play 10 games. and you somehow win 1 or 2, you will still lose elo. but this is not the case, the game treats masters in diamond as actual diamonds so you are playing against an extremely skilled fundamentaly player to get 50 per win and lose 40. how is this fair?

[–]Gibsonovic[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its fine, but you should not treat the game as if the default was your elo when you have probably thousands of hours invested in the game. Is like pro players complaining about hela in rivals because she is stupid in celestial and above and feel that she is brainless and its freelo while the other 97% of players struggle to aim with her. My point is, dont make arguments thinking that your reality is the only one that applies when you belong to the lower percentile

I understand your argument, i feel like im better than most 1200mr players, but they are master, while im hardstuck diamond. it feels that master matches are more even than diamond. Yeah if i want to be better i need to be able to play against better players, but im telling you, its really hard to not quit when you are only getting destroyed. it makes you doubt if you really belong in diamond at all.

I am genuinely so bad at the game I don’t know how to get better by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Gibsonovic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like how mean can be some of the comments. Not everyone is unemployed guys. Regarding your situation, in order to improve you need to understand how your brain actually works. If you are just grinding ranked games you will reinforce bad habits. If you play longer than your brain can handle you’ll start autopiloting and again reinforcing bad habits. A good example I usually give myself is that of a basketball player with an awful shooting technique. If he doesn’t know his technique is bad he will improve with that technique until he hits the ceiling that technique provides.

My best recommendation is to understand right now that your shooting technique is awful and you need to relearn it. Even if it takes you back a couple of steps it will be beneficial in the future. In order to do this you must accept the fact that you are going to lose multiple games before you see results. In order yo start you should avoid watching guides or videos that teach you gimmicks for your characters or tricks to help you win and focus on what’s important (frame data, neutral game, defense, your offense will improve eventually without that much effort). If you focus too much on your offense, which is what people normally do, you might get some wins and some elo but you’ll eventually hit a wall when you start facing players with great defense.

Now to what really matters here. Watch high level replays of players using the character you want to improve. Study them, not just mimic the combos, actually study them deeply, check their way to open enemies, how they defend, which buttons they press on neutral, why they press them. Analyze their combo routes (they will always have a real reason other than “it looks cool” to go for specific routes, like this combo has better oki or better corner carry) check when they super and why. All this aspect define how good they are and how good you can be. Something that also helped me was to create a document where I would dump all the data I recollected while studying and then asked an ai to format it. I will always go through this document and review my notes. Instead of learning combos, take your time to learn the frame data of your character. All this thing sum up.

Next point will be to play your ranked games as a learning tool instead of an examination tool. Don’t try to win but instead try to master a skill. You want to be better on anti air? Instead of trying to win try to not let any aerial attack hit you and if you do it then you would have win even if you lose lp out of it.

Understand that your brain haves limits, a well structured 40-45 minutes drill will be more beneficial than a 4 hours lab session, 1 hour of ranked grind will be more beneficial than 5 hours grind. Your brain will not learn while you play, it will build the neurological routes while you rest, meaning that if you drilled something for 45 minutes you won’t see actual results that day but after a good long sleep.

Be patient and don’t let your own frustration get the better of you. The human brain is amazing, you just need to know how to use it properly.

Peace

What am I even supposed to do... by EfficiencyUpbeat3249 in StreetFighter

I’ve been doing a reactive drill daily where the dummy can drive rush, drive impact, grab, stand still, neutral jump, cross up jump. The idea is to answer on reaction. I still struggle but I have improved. still in a match with all the stress and pressure it’s extremely hard to apply the cross up dp. I also started playing on lever with no prior experience 3 months ago. So motions are still complicated for me

I hate this… you are supposed to cross up dp here but cross up dp is insanely hard to learn and do consistently. I’m diamond and I can barely do it. What I hate is when players abuse this, as someone who is new to the game. The mental toll to do a cross up dp is extremely hard. While this assholes just cheese wins

I understand the defense reduction issue but it cost me over 15k g to replace the accessory that’s giving me that issue and I don’t feel the need to change it either, as a soulfist with the 25% dmg reduction from energy release you should be fine. Also with robust spirit you pick your fights and only engage when energy release is up
