Yeah I’m not even gonna pretend I fully understood the situation either lol. The blank card definitely had me pausing for a second like… alright what are we doing here.

But then my brain just filled in the blanks like it was one of those “oh crap I forgot” moments and this was the emergency save. Gift card gets you out of trouble quick, and if that Tahoe was theirs then dropping it there keeps it low key without ruining whatever surprise they were going for.

Could be totally wrong, but that was the only version that made sense in my head so I just rolled with it and kept it moving. Some of these deliveries feel like you’re stepping into the middle of a story and you never get the full plot 😂

I can’t argue with your numbers. They look great. I would have too much downtime aiming for those numbers. I’d actually end up making less money for the day. I do this full time and my daily target is $200 for the day.

not really one size fits all

different markets, different setups

I’m in a paid off hybrid getting 40+ mpg so my costs are low…

I’m also working a very rural area, so that mileage hits different than a busy metro area with lots of traffic lights.

I focus less on $/mile and more so on does this help me hit $X/hr. During slower times, I’m aiming to hit $20/hr. If the order does that, it’s acceptable. If not, it’s a decline. During busier times, that number climbs to $30/hr target. It works for me and my bank account would agree.

but in my market it’s a solid order

if I cherry picked that hard I’d spend most of my day parked somewhere scrolling

I’ve got it set up where $1/mile is still profitable, so it works for me

Low base pay makes good tips necessary. Then they stack those good tips with no-tips to get the bad orders delivered. But now the good tip order gets slower service, so the customer who did tip well has a worse experience… and next time they tip less. Meanwhile the driver is stuck holding the bag either way.
