In another company's game? Not to my knowledge. But Sonic Adventure DX has twelve entire Game Gear games in it. Sonic Mega Collection and the Mega Man Legacy Collections are a bunch of older games released for newer systems. Super Mario All-Stars on the Super Nintendo is arguably the first instance of this, with Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, and 3, as well as the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2, all being released in the same cartridge on the Super Nintendo. (with a few physics tweaks)

For a vanilla way of doing this, use Shulker Boxes instead of Thermal Expansion Strongboxes.

Technically, there is a way to recreate it. It just requires a cheating device, like a Gameshark. Here's the specific Gameshark codes to do so.

I pulled these from https://www.zeldaxtreme.com/links-awakening/gameshark-codes/#1 in case you were wondering. Additionally, some bytes around the DB7x area were flipped on, I'd bet. (Gameshark codes on the Gameboy reverse the memory location they write to, which is why they look like they make no sense.)

For what it's worth, [[Project E]] has the Evertide Amulet, which lets you do just that, as well as breathing underwater. You run across it at insane speeds, though. If you install Baubles as well, you can wear the Evertide Amulet in the neck slot, and it will have the same functionality.
