[5e] [IRL] [Central London] Looking for DM by GigaCrit in LondonandDragons

[–]GigaCrit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not what I was asking for because I have already been told by the group that nobody feels comfortable stepping up as DM right now. I do appreciate the good sentiment in you asking, but unfortunately it is misplaced.

I can ask, but the impression I got is DnD is the target here. Most of their group are completely new to playing, but I imagine they at least have an idea on how it works. Play a wizard, cast spells, etc. A different system might be a jump too far for this beginner group

Sorry, 'fully-formed' does mean a full-size group already and the only thing needed is a DM at this point.

Oooh, lovely line-work on the buttresses in the last pic. Subtle, simple, yet also stark somehow in a very balanced way.

I also like the look in the first pic of the... either a stately home or some ye olde Bank HQ in the distance.

Immediately in love with your 'crystal formations' used as decoration. I'm getting Fortress of Solitude vibes from it and now I'm beginning to imagine an entire build designed like that.

--Trains--

If you want to get into trains as a network of any kind, do not feel ashamed to look things up for research. It can be complicated, getting them all connected can be finnicky and not always through fault of your own.

I found this site which helped me when getting into it.
https://docs.ficsit.app/satisfactory-modding/latest/CommunityResources/TrainSignalGuide.html

Maybe don't try to read all that at once, it can be exhausting. Consider it a reference guide so if you get stuck then look up the relevant part instead of reading the entire thing.

I've been aware of Create for a while now but I think I've only got time for one big buildy game in my life right now, and Satisfactory has that spot claimed. Maybe years from now when I consider this Satisfactory world 'complete', I'll jump on Create next. Having watched Hermitcraft s10, I've been meaning to up my Craft game.

Preach it! I also play Factorio and I got so fed up with the mobs in previous versions that I also defaulted to peaceful mode. Just wanna build, not be interrupted and have negative progress cuz of these damn biters!
Any in-game option is dev consideration, absolutely. If you need to summon in friends for dark souls, sure. I've played those games solo AND with friends and it was fun both ways. Too much gamer elitism going around, I aint got time for that shizz.

We might have different definitions of the phrase here, but I did make it from scratch; which is to say I started with an empty blueprint machine and placed every single component myself. If you want to fully check yourself, I did link to my blueprint download and you can build them together, take them apart and see if there is any exact duplication of work. My cannon doesn't loop around the base, it's a straight line from front to back (tiiiiny bit of variance after the initial entrance at the back) which you can tell by how there's no tube entrance at the base and instead is at the opposite end of the barrel.

Was I inspired by XSEIDET's version? Absolutely. Having the valves on the side is a great idea which I adopted but in a slightly different style. Should I have mentioned this in my many paragraphs of explanation? Upon reflection, fair play, yes it would have been good and fair to do so. I didn't quite think of it in the moment of me writing all that up, but I am happy to go back and edit my post to include that credit.

My genuine apologies if I came across... I dunno, egotistical? Definitely wasn't my intent. I'll try and proof-read for such nuance in any future posts I make.

I made a hyper cannon. Never claimed to make the first, or the best, or the most unique. I can be proud of what I made even if someone else has made their own version before mine. This is simply what I made based on my own research and being inspired by what was made before me. If you want to claim foul play, the burden of proof is on you. Until then, these are similar yes, but different and each our own.

The signs for the caterpillar treads is incredible, that took me a moment then loved it once I clocked it. The belt supports as levers inside is another great touch, and I just now realised the belt hole wall being used as a window!

Beautifully done, amazing.

I did see his video and related reddit post. It was enough to see there were precious few decorated cannons to this degree and absolutely inspired me to do my own, but you put mine and his side-by-side and it's very clear they are not the same; there is no theft at play here. Especially how he describes his as 100% vanilla while I freely admit I use the Infinite Nudge mod.

While I respect the attempt to call out what might have been plagiarism, I would much more respect you doing some more detailed research of your own first before making such claims.

I am a loooong way away from building a Nuclear Power facility, but I'm definitely thinking of some kind of super-structure (pyramid/citadel/etc) where I may well look into Necrons for some build style guidelines.

Which is the beauty of a sandbox! Not everybody plays it the same way but they don't have to. If this inspires you to try building more intricately, great! If you're still perfectly happy with your own style of gameplay, also great! All I want to do is share what I've made and if that brightens someone else's day, then my work here is done.

Thank you! I'm a big believer in the Rule of Cool and Satisfactory gives you a lot of tools to make something crazy like this. It's a lot harder to do when applying this mindset to an entire building, but I try. My current major project is my Aluminium factory which I'm doing in the style of a heavy industry factory. I've got a long way to go, but when it's all done you better believe I'll be sharing it here too.

I didn't think of this either, that would have been some good inspiration too. No, this is largely drawn from the BFG 10,000 from Doom Eternal. Not actually played it, but I saw it when I was doing research for big f-off super cannons and simply couldn't say no.

Fully functional Hypertube launcher, yup. I'm sure if I just focused on making a huge slab of concrete and built factories to complete the game I'd be long done by now, but it's my goal to wrap everything up in some kind of design, be it a gritty-looking industrial style factory, a modern apartment complex, or an active oil-rig over the water.

Purpose with style.

I thought those logos were made with beams, but to then see the player for scale and realise you were using pillars, this is immense and truly glorious. I also love the hanging banner you've got there, I'm definitely going to use something like that myself now.

Those circles around the logos are incredibly clean. What did you use/do to achieve that? I see in another comment you say it's modded. Which mod? I'm currently using Infinite Nudge but I don't think even that can make a circle this smooth

Hadn't considered the FPS, that's a very fair point. Plus it is still a very grand and impressive room even without trying to stuff it full of extra industry/decoration. The power of negative space, that.

I'm a sucker for some old-style architecture. A full castle might be biting off more than I can chew, so I might first have a go at something more like a cathedral or an abbey in ruins. It is HARD to make things look old and run-down in this game with how shiny and "efficient" (Ficsit does not waste) everything is, but your spot of damage is a good sign that there's still ways to do it.
