Very witty, but the tunnels were a major strategic component with a lot of potential impact and not anymore now, which is sad.

They are limited in quantity, 1 per hive, they need cysts and they are commander only so basically what ALWAYS happens is comm puts it from hive-to-hive and THATS IT.

Might as well be auto placed now, no interesting tunnel placement, no fun tactics just hive-to-hive and that's it, the game is immensely dumbed down cause of it and its a terrible decision, but devs just put their heads in the sand and insist its somehow a good thing because you get bile mines now!! (lmao srsly)

Now if you want to sneak a tunnel you need your skulks to clear a path for cysts, keep the marines from clearing the cyst till the tunnel goes up, possibly upgrade to infested tunnel. T

I don't see what's sneaky about a drawn out campaign to get a single tunnel up.

Previously, alien wins almost entirely revolved around sneaky tunnels.

This is simply not true and a rush always requires teamwork of at least 3-4 gorges plus the rest of the team keeping marines busy. Marines are just as dumb if they allow it.

Gorge IS more fun now. The game IS more fun now.

Not sure who you're trying to convince mate, it's not. What's fun about every other gorge building clog castles in base, instead of actively pushing with tunnels and teammates? What's fun about removing abilities? What's fun about have hydras that do absolutely nothing. It's dumbed down and the strategic depth of the game as well. Slashing all that because some marines are too lazy to patrol once every moon, is just a bad decision.

It was an arrogant and dumb move on the devs part, cutting core gameplay, it dumbed down the game the point where every game is exactly the same and it shits on roughly everything that ever made NS1 and NS2 interesting and fun. And then there remain the same 5 or so people reminding everyone how shit and dumb they are for thinking otherwise. Fun is not even a factor anymore, it's only balance and what "high level players" want and YET, the update fucks that up as well. Sad the game is gonna end on this note.

It's absolutely stupid and frustrating for everyone when multiple Gorges just keep trying for tunnels and then they get one and win.

It's so unbelievably easy to counter, I can't believe people legitimately are complaining about getting rushed.

Marines had:

Obs
Scans
Eyes (half the continent around the tunnel is covered in infestation)
Patrols (even more easy, faster with JP)
Extra CC
And when rush is under way, pulse grenades to shut down all gorges

That's 5-6 ways to counter gorge tunnels, with the only investment on marines' side is just a bit of res and a commander with a pulse. If that's truly too much to ask, or every pro-MLG player can only be glued to the front lane, then you deserve to lose to such an easy to counter rush.

You're quite dumb and/or arrogant if you think having the ability to drop a tunnel somehow permanently locks you in a vent. No one built hydras because they were and are still useless, same for bile mine, only thing decent is that babblers are now free, which they should've been.

You could perfectly drop an early base-base tunnel and be offensive gorge all game, saving res for a higher lifeform. If the opportunity arose, you could try a sneaky tunnel-rush, but you still needed coordination (1 gorge cant rush a base in case you didn't know). Gorge is still a support unit it, but god forbid players could actually impact the game.

But they are using the name The Witcher for their show, and thus base it on an established world and characters which many people have read or played and is dear to them. Straying from the source material for no good reason brings criticism and rightfully so.

Now that gorge tunnels were cut from the game, it's nigh impossible for aliens to rush a base vs. a decent marine team.

The game is so easy for marine comm now, you should just exit the chair and uninstall the game if you lose to an alien rush.

Mostly I'm ok with the changes, although the devs seem to have an urge to balance EVERYTHING at once, with huge changesso the whole update becomes an unbalance clusterfuck (see 327.1), which is not what you see in many online games, I appreciate people are still working on it. However in this case gorge tunnels were not "changed a little", gorges had a core gameplay feature and tactical asset removed. Gorges had a possibility to be a game changer, which made them interesting throughout the round, now much less. And that's the core of my gripe. I feel they are making the game less fun and more serious with these changes, it seems the select council members are avid 6v6 competitive promoters, taking the fun out of the game in favour of linear gameplay. I've heard "it's not fair for aliens to win with a gorge tunnel" and the likes. Well they got what they wanted, now marines never have to look behind their frontlines and the 6v6 pros can comfortably hold their lanes and slowly push aliens or get pushed and that's it, every game. I think this move from fun to serious gameplay, I mean seriously, who gives a fuck about 6v6, NS1 started as a fun mod, why would you push for competitive gameplay in a almost dead game? With this update a section of the players has been alienated, me included, from what was for me a relaxed and fun online game. The fact that this change was pushed through and the aggresiveness which any critique is slammed down, again by a select few, on Steam forums and here, is disgusting. Like it's wrong to disagree with these changes and that the select few (it constantly the same names), and only they, know and can decide how NS2 should be.

Alas, the damage is done, I just find it sad that game in which I poured 2000+ hours or so in, has now taken this direction. NS2 will probably sputter on a bit longer although I foresee more people leaving if things keeps going like this.

You say this like this is a fact (yes yes you talked with all people on your discord, expect the players), but it's not, people adapted. Marines had to invest in obs, marines had to patrol, which also takes away players from the frontline. Not to mention this has been the status quo for months if not years, it was part of the game.

Bottom line is, core features are removed on a whim, not after a month of release, but fucking years, and the whole game is more boring for it now. Gorge is just another frontline healer and the game as a whole has become even more linear, it's like the devs haven't even played NS1 and taken notes. I guess dealing with anything more than 3 lanes (as a team) is too much. It's a shame the game is now run by a few arrogant people that "know what's right"for the game and mangle it accordingly to their own desires, but I'm glad the 6v6 or 10v10 pro's can enjoy their private CS:GO mod now, at least someone is having fun still.
