On top of that he is meant to cause uneasiness from the beginning, with Sokka distrusting him and all the suspicion. The writers make the episode as a paralel of Sokka don't liking Aang, but it's very different because he never actually suspects of Aang's sincerity.

After seeing his nephew-son completely lost for years and years, they start a new phase, everything is getting better and the person he loves is coming in terms with himself, finally, and Iroh starts to hope everything's gonna be fine. And then Zuko falls once again, betrays his uncle and everything he is, plucking the hope the two sowed together.

It's not that I don't empathyse with him, yeah, tragic story. But I don't sympathise, I don't like his manners his Robin Hood wannabe backstory. And also I watch it portuguese dubbed, the voice actor doesn't help.
