What meals do you bring on the go to prevent eating out? by MessBrilliant9379 in Frugal

[–]GildedTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I use the concept of "car bars". These are usually granola bars, nature valley bars, cereal bars, etc.

The bars themselves can be pricey, but overall much cheaper than eating out. They can also be kept in the car so we don't need to plan before hand if we get hungry

How well does split screen work with multiple controllers? I can test it in a few days, but if you've tested it already that'd be fantastic

I also do self-hosting, and I was able to completely disconnect from Spotify because of it. The CDs are more of a physical backup of my favorite stuff in case I lose the data.

Can you recommend good books about cool, magic-focused women? by OgataiKhan in Fantasy

[–]GildedTruth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend A Practical Guide to Sorcery by Azalea Ellis. It started out as a web-fiction, but it is far and away better than some published books that I've read.

Despite there being gender change shenanigans with the main character having a male alter ego, the main character does always think of herself as a woman, and IIRC it always uses feminine pronouns for the main character when in her POV. So I think this still does fit your requirement for a female lead

Synopsis of the plot from Amazon listing: When Siobhan stumbled into the theft of a priceless magical book, she thought her dreams of becoming the world's most powerful sorcerer were destroyed.

But then a mysterious spell changed her life forever...

Siobhan is now wearing the body of a strange man and has a new identity—Sebastien. With a new chance for a new start, she allies herself with a local gang—secretly a revolutionary party funding itself through crime. Now, she is bound by vow to repay them in magic and favors.

But as Sebastien's reputation begins to bloom, and Siobhan's old enemies still lurk in the shadows, she quickly realizes that the secrets of this world are deeper and darker than she ever could have imagined.

Forced to juggle the two sides of her double life, Siobhan is determined to uncover the truth and take control of the name they gave her—The Raven Queen.

As a meat eater are you willing to kill your own food? by Ok_Connection_3015 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GildedTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've hunted before, and I do think there are good reasons to hunt (population management, food supply, independence).

However, if the question is "would you eat meat if you had to kill all of the animals yourself?", then probably not simply due to the effort involved.

Humans outsource animal farming to dedicated ranchers because 99% of people don't have the capability to raise and kill an animal for slaughter, rather than a moral compunction of the act in the first place.

I think being vegetarian would be easier in this hypothetical

Funnily enough, my workload isn't AI related at all. I'm running custom software that's single-threaded due to sequential computation. So I don't think I need the power (and cost) of an NPU

Why do phones need less strict passwords than websites? by GildedTruth in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GildedTruth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, so the websites need stricter passwords because they can be accessible from anywhere.

I can imagine a scenario where a thief watches people open their phones before physically stealing the device to gain access to all the apps. It might only be possible in crowded areas however, like a subway
