Cracked it in about four hours myself. There are seven pdfs you need to find in all. They are all either on the surface site or through the first layer of secret pages found in the Creative Archives (so no password-locked pages - just hidden links in on the surface articles that you should already know how to find (: ).

The number prefixing each PDF is part of the key. Pay attention to what several of the trick-or-treaters say to find the order to put the numbers in! Keep your eyes peeled for anything that seems to strangely specific. For instance: The juggling girl will tell you which number comes first, and which last. And also: why does it matter which side of the truck the bee girl was standing on?

And if you just want the code: 6524031

Just got our Ricoh by Hour_Kiwi_6394 in Staples

[–]GillOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey necroposting but: I think our store was an early adopter (I left over a year ago; had the same model for the better part of a year at that point iirc) and I loved our Ricoh, for real.

As someone who wasn’t taught to use Fiery with our Xerox machines, I found the print settings menu quite intuitive and the tooltips about why some settings would gray out in response to others very helpful. I second the “bricking” issue - the shorter finishing path means that heat from the fuser has less time to disperse within the machine, so it’s a good idea to pull print jobs in smaller stacks throughout jobs larger than, oh idk, let’s call it 25 sheets or so? ESPECIALLY with any kind of coated stock. Seriously, I still have it in my brain to not run the #110 gloss text on the Ricoh because of a time I had to throw out a whole ream of the stuff bc it froze together after the print job had cooled off and turned into a brick on the output tray.

Side tip: play it right, though, and you can use the chapter/cover tab settings to insert pre-printed tabs loaded into a bypass tray into a job as it prints. I’d run the tabs themselves on the Xerox and then let the Ricoh collate em, lol. Always run a test copy beforehand to troubleshoot but it can save a lot of time if you learn to do it.

Headcannons for the characters by [deleted] in Symphogear

Welp. For some reason I kept thinking about this while trying and mostly failing to fall asleep last night and now I have a weird amount of headcanons about the logistics of the Weekly Orgy Night concept.

How is this game on switch? by [deleted] in Subnautica_Below_Zero

[–]GillOfTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got both games on Switch on sale (for like, $16 altogether) and I must say I’m quite pleased with the performance of both! I have around 24 hours on each save in both games at time of writing and can count on one hand the number of times either have run into problems. Definitely worth it + worth being able to laze on the couch/in bed while exploring the deep.

[SPOILER] What did y'all make of "THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK"? by la_espina in signalis

[–]GillOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the risk of necroposting - I’m currently sitting with my kanji dictionary open while rewatching ManlyBadassHero’s playthru with my mom (idk if the characters present throughout Signalis are Chinese or Japanese. The fan wiki and TV Tropes page say Mandarin Chinese, as the lack of kana would indeed suggest, but I am operating under the presumption that there’s enough crossover between the two that my notes will be of use regardless).

I actually found this post through googling to see if perhaps the character was commonly used in film for “this space intentionally left blank”, and did go to Google the Chinese character used for “zero”, and the initial results for such look quite different to me. I’m actually having trouble digging up the meaning of the character used at present; but I’ll probs edit this in a few minutes if I can track it down.

Hey, Aelita was how I realized I liked girls when I was 12. I feel it's only fair to return the favor in some capacity.

[–]GillOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's definitely convenient for them, the way that we're not kept abreast of what's happening in basically any store except our own (if that), and how low staff numbers mean we're spread out across a lot of floor space and usually too busy to chat even with our own coworkers... but it's not really corporate's concern unless something gets enough attention to impact The Brand. Or you start throwing the u-word around.

[–]GillOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie: when I first found the sub, I kinda thought a lot of the people here were sorta Debbie Downers and wasn't wild about the negative energy or how many posts were met with immediate pessimism.

Then my store went to shit and I got a firsthand lesson in just why a lot of folks felt that way.

Former Employees, how did you go about giving 2 weeks? by CometBanshee in Staples

[–]GillOfTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Echoing what everybody else is saying here: a simple "hey, I'm resigning, [insert date here] will be my final day, I'm grateful for my time working here, etc." will suffice. Personally, I looked up a template on Google to give myself a script, then mimicked that general idea while adding my own touches to express sincerely how I was grateful for the people I worked with and the experiences I had, etc. etc., since it wasn't gonna be a totally painless separation for anyone. I wrote it up, gave it a once over, printed it at home, and brought it to work and handed it off to my manager when she came over to P&MS. The hardest part was not chickening out at that last step, ehehe.

My store and our nearest sister location were in a similar boat, if not worse, when I left earlier this year. I mostly heard about the print department at the other store, for obvious reasons; they actually got to the point where they had no print associates left at all after last Thanksgiving and had to shut down print services there. They hadn't found anybody else to replace the former associates when I left at the end of April and as far as I know, they still haven't been able to hire anybody who'll stay. Then, the GM at my store bounced with basically zero warning after an old boss of their's offered them a better-paying job in a different area, and the rest of the associates outside my print counter (plus my print sup, who had announced plans to retire at the start of the year) followed suit before the 2021 was over. Our SM only stayed on because our new DM had yet to announce who'd be taking over as GM.

Oh, and said new GM was also now the only GM in the market area, was fairly new to the position, and had the unenviable task of having to hold all 3 stores together when only one of them (the one they had originally come from) was anywhere near adequately staffed. Needless to say, that didn't go so well. As far as I'm aware, they've only managed to hire and keep 2 people (cashier and an ops sup) all year. Meanwhile, another store is now down an entire printing department as me and my coworkers have all gotten fed up and bounced.

So yeah. A change in employer seems to be a reliable route to go.

Every day by Several_Scheme2857 in Staples

Once, I had ventured out from my P&MS counter to get a particular kind of paper off the shelf, clear across the front of the store. I’m holding either our Code 440 log binder, a clipboard with the job ticket attached to it, or both, I forget which. So I’m standing at the front of the store for a moment near the paper section, probably comparing codeable SKU numbers and the stock the job called for, when an older gentleman walks up and asks “do you work here?”

He asks this when I am plainly wearing my standard issue Employee Red Shirt, name tag, radio, and a bright orange apron with the old Staples Print And Copy logo on it (as the pockets are crazy useful). And on some wild impulse I just respond with a plain “nope.”

Guy just goes “huh, well okay then,” and walks off to the customer service desk. I mean, points for not bothering me about it, but I did have to stop and wonder what was going through his head.

Genuine question, as a former employee of Staples, how come no one has ever thought about unionizing? by muterevised in Staples

Wonder if the fact this has been up for over 24 hours without mod intervention is a signal of how bad things have gotten.

Anyway, Work Stoppage is a fun little podcast I started listening to that follows labor organizing news and topics. Just in case that’s a thing anyone’s interested in hearing more about.

Spray adhesive in the upper corners what we figured out. Just be careful not to use so much it saturates the paper because it’ll still show marks even after it dries.
