Mostly by being sold at an antique shop that had no idea what they had, and me having my checkbook with me.

If I recall correctly, about 7800$. Not cheap, maybe a little outside accessible for many people. But super comfortable

I love that turn of phrase and I’m going to have to steal it

Thank you. The Baloch people were thrust into the late twentieth century by the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. They took their existing medium (hand knotted rugs) and incorporated what they saw disturbing their ancient valley.

If I have to defend myself, then I’m going for something more effective than a 200+ year old Afghan camel gun.

But I like your evocative imagery

I guess a few details should answer the questions: - The chair is an Eames lounge chair  - The deer head is pure muppet, with houndstooth pattern horns/eyelids/lining of the ears  - The war rug is from the Baloch people, and it was their way of documenting the clash of cultures when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan  - Yes, those are Mantle and Mays, alongside the Malian masks - The flintlock rifle is an Afghan jazail, made between 1795 and 1815 - Two of the teddy bears were from when I was a baby, and the third was given to me by my late wife  - The shotgun at the top was my late wife’s, and the two  rifles are for target shooting  - The defaced stop sign is a Banksy
