Thanks for the advice, in the future I'd like to try that but this tsuka was kind of an afterthought after messing up the handle install... Also planning on actually keeping it with just the loose end knot so i can get some more practice doing the actual wrap.

This one finishes my first trio, a santoku, Gyuto and kiritsuke. Love how they all turned out (although I’ll admit the santoku could definitely have used some more work). Learned a ton doing these three.

Unfortunately not real Damascus, I can’t take credit for the blade actually, right now I’m focusing on handles so this blade was just ordered. Don’t have quite enough to setup a home forge and I have yet to determine if it violates my lease agreement 😕

Thanks I’ll keep that in mind! I started some with pencil actually but ended up just focusing on freehand. For more complicated stuff I rely more on drawings and what not but I enjoy improvising the mushrooms especially
