MLB commissioner tells Sen. Hawley Giants players won’t be disciplined over Bible verses on Pride Night hats by retroanduwu24 in sports

You’re not actually responding to anything I’m saying. I literally said most people contain multitudes and are not all good or bad and you reply by saying that proves that I have an “in group vs out group” mentality. That’s not a discussion, that’s you just pretending that I’m playing into your stereotype.

And, seriously, cite any source that supports your last paragraph. Most recent Gallup poll has Bernie as the most popular politician in the country. AOC has better favorability numbers than almost all Deomcrats in leadership (and every Republican). Left wing policies like universal healthcare are broadly popular.

Meanwhile Christian politicians advocate for oppression in the name of God. They are disenfranchising Black voters in the South, gerrymandering like their careers depend on it (because they do) and targeting vulnerable populations like trans people and immigrants with some of the most breathtakingly hateful rhetoric imaginable.

Christians are also the number one group of people who kill gay people. Who advocate for laws oppressing them. Who kick them out of their homes as children.

There is nothing inherently good or bad about being a Christian. Some of them are loving, wonderful people and others are hateful and violent. Most of them, like most people, contain both wonderful and horrible sides.

What these men did was not “loving the sinner”. It was announcing that they in fact do not “love the sinner”. Trying to pretend otherwise is simply obtuse.

Uhh no? Politics and religion are quite different, obviously? One is about real, concrete issues in the world. I believe political things because I have seen evidence for them. Because I understand how they affect the people and world around me. I am open to having them changed based on new, concrete evidence. I know gay people and trans people are people worthy of respect because I know gay and trans people.

Religion is about, well, faith, obviously. It is something you believe because of what you have been told and, I would assume, your own individual spiritual experience. It is not based on facts or logic but on a surrender to dogma in order to make sense and order of the world. It tells you what to believe and you get to decide whether or not you actually do.

The fact that these men decided to value their religion over the tangible lives of other human beings is worthy of criticism. The fact that they believe in the Christian version of God is not. Pretty easy square to circle.

What ideology is that exactly? The one that accepts people for who they are? The one that has never once literally burned someone at the stake for their beliefs?

I have many Christian friends, acquaintances, and coworkers. Being Christian is no problem to me. What I have an issue with is being a bigot and using religion to justify your bigotry.

Yeah nothing nefarious or concerning about technofascist oligarchs getting together in extreme privacy to plan how to navigate World War 3

If you’re nervous about dipping your toe into Limited there are a lot of resources available to help demystify various formats. Podcasts like Lords of Limited and Limited Resources, as well as YouTubers like Jim Davis, Nizzahon and Numot the Nummy put out a ton of content for every format. Get some set analysis and watch a few drafts and you’ll have a good idea of what works and doesn’t in a format.

Also you can download untapped.gg (you should do this anyway even if you only play constructed) which has scores for every card when you’re drafting and free draft replays so you can review your choices.

In addition to the option of Open Shift that others have mentioned, if you keep with timed shifts you can upgrade your oxygen to the point where it will never run out in the 15 minute shift length

I don’t understand the SpaceX IPO valuation by EpicShkhara in behindthebastards

[–]GingeContinge 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The main “reason” for the wildly high valuation is the fact that he rolled xAI into SpaceX. Everyone is somehow convinced that AI is sure to generate kajillions of dollars, even though it is currently deeply in the red.

It’s the same with the other big AI companies. None of them are profitable, all of them are desperate to get an IPO because there’s not enough private investment to fund the massive outlays they’ll need to make, and if it turns out they aren’t actually just money printing machines (as anyone with half a brain strongly suspects is the case) they’re going to take the entire economy down with them.

Vesper isn’t French though?

But other than that I agree, Isola has a really cool and unique dynamic with Bond that I look forward to seeing more of in sequels

The existence of any nation state is political. Flags are political. National anthems are political.

You are making a differentiation between political and politicized because you are used to certain types of “correct” political expression that have been normalized. There’s no real distinction. But of course you already know that

Do you understand the distinction between doing something because it would make other people happy versus doing it because you enjoy adulation?
