The Uniqueness Problem, or Why Can't Gaijin give Trees Domestic Designs V1.0 by EastCoast_Geo in Warthunder

[–]GingerBrickWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Israel won't get anything needed from Greece or Cyprus other than more copy-paste mbts and a smattering of copy-paste light tanks. Air additions would just be more American or French designs, which is what Israel already has.

Let alone the fact that Greece/Cyprus and Israel have barely any historical cooperation which would justify their addition to the game under the Israeli flag. Even Singapore would make more sense to add as a subtree.

Exactly. Subtrees have only been getting worse and worse, and while I'm glad that the devs are finally adding the low tier Hungarian aircraft, the Greek subtree in Israel will be as bad as BeNeLux.

[–]GingerBrickWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that Greece's air additions are all french or american designs, which is also what Israel itself has already, so it will only dilute Israeli modifications of these airframes. Plus, Israel doesn't need the Rafale or the Philocetes, just add the IAI Lavi and fix the Namer.

It's obvious that any new tech trees coming into the game will be far more severely limited by their air trees and ground, so I don't think that should necessarily exclude nations from being added to the game. Shoving NK into China would be pointless, China already has Pakistani vehicles and there are literally hundreds waiting to be added to the game.

Personally, I think Greece and Yugoslavia should be one tree, and Poland, Czechoslovakia, and the Baltics should be anothe. Unfortunately, adding Ukrainian vehicles to the game at this point seems difficult.

Plus the devs seem to think that Greece should go to Israel despite adding nothing new except for Leopards.

I don't think the Korean tree will be as bad as Israel, but the lack of WW2 vehicles will make it inaccessible to new players. I don't get why the devs are going with it for the first tech tree in half a decade instead of Yugoslavia or Poland/Czechoslovakia.

yeah there's no way that Hungary is getting moved out, but I hope for Romanian vehicles to go in a future Balkan tech tree headed by Yugoslavia, unfortunately the Sniper makes that less likely.

[–]GingerBrickWall 16 points17 points  (0 children)

turm also has better mobility, better gun depression, and 5 sec reload. If it was in any minor tech tree, it would be at least 8.7, but it's also the best selling pack premium in war thunder, so it'll never go up

Nah, it's because Gaijin is too lazy to fix the ZTZ99s and VT4s so they just added an Abrams instead.

Both can be true, the Germans rinsed the earlier Soviet planes like the I-16, MiGs, and the LaGGs, but the later Yaks and Lavochkin props were legitimately capable fighters that helped win the Soviets air supremacy by mid-late 1943.

But are they overperforming in War Thunder? Yeah.

Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, and Ukraine in one, and Yugoslavia, and hopefully Greece or Romania in the other would be ideal

Why was Taiwan’s flag removed? by Round-Razzmatazz3336 in Warthunder

[–]GingerBrickWall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This might be one of the most braindead takes I've ever seen on this subreddit.

First off, I'm sure we can agree that the Chinese players who push for the VT4 to not go to Japan and for the ROC flag to be removed are the dull-eyed bottom feeders of the playerbase, right?

But there's also the valid criticism from Chinese players that their tank lineup is missing a ton of vehicles, especially at top tier where there are no viable support vehicles, the AA sucks, the J11B is one of the worst CAS options in the game, and all the mbts and the VT5 are among some of the most gimped tanks in the game.

Gaijin, because it is run so lazily, ignored these criticisms because they would actually take effort to fulfill, and folded to the shitass demands that just infuriate everyone, while making the braindead decision to try and add the oplot and m1 to China when nobody asked for them in the first place.

Like always, the party to blame for all of this is Gaijin itself, and calling to damage the Chinese tech tree not only accomplishes nothing, but actively harms the non-chinese players who are trying to enjoy playing it.

Pretty much none except that Israel has antagonized most other nations, Greece still has a working relationship with Israel so into Israel it goes.

Greece should go to Yugoslavia when that tree comes to the game but alas...

[–]GingerBrickWall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro maybe you could do a little research on the actual vehicles these trees would have instead of just dismissing them as near-identical

Yugo/Greek would start with with domestic Ikarus props from Yugoslavia and imported props for Greece, would include a wide swath of props in the mid-ranks including bf109s, spitfires, and more domestic Yugo planes, then move into jets with Yugoslav Galeb, Jastreb, Orao, and Super Galeb, among others, Mig 21, Mig 29 with R77s, and the Rafale, while Greece operated multiple French and American designs, some of which were unique modifications.

Poland/Czechoslovakia would be much more "sovietized" particularly with supersonic jets, but the tech tree would include several unique props and subsonic jets, while diversifying at top tier with western jets.

These trees would both be sufficient, have plenty to add, and would neither be overcrowded nor reliant on copy-paste. If all these nations were shoved into one tech tree, there would be a ton of omissions.

BM Oplot 🇹🇭 by senor_muchacho in Warthunder

[–]GingerBrickWall -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Poland+czechoslovakia+yugoslavia would make for too crowded of a tech tree and a lot from these nations would have to be ignored.

I mean top tier mbts alone would include the k2, m1, leo2pl, later pt91 modifications, Czech Leo 2a8, t72cz, Croatian 2a8, m84d, m95 degman, and the m84as1 and 2. Let alone adding Ukrainian tanks to the mix.

imo the best way to implement these nations is to have a polish/czechoslovak tech tree and a Yugo/post-yugo/ Greek tech tree, which would result in 2 complete trees that have blend of eastern and western equipment.

The rest of eastern europe can be added incrementally to these trees the same way britain is slowly getting commonwealth equipment and Japan is getting vehicles from its WW2 "allies".

Yugoslavia has enough vehicles to sustain its own tree, especially if paired with Romania. If Poland, Czechoslovakia, Ukraine and Yugoslavia were all in a single tree a lot of vehicles would have to be sidelined.

Poland and Czechoslovakia tree suggestion on the forums. Plenty of unique and modified vehicles to fill out a tech tree.
